When you are truly trying to learn, there is no such thing as a"stupid question".
There are many good answers here, but for me, the MOST IMPORTANT is to use COLD rice, preferably cooked the day before (note, minute rice does not turn out as well as jasmine, basmatti or even plain old long grain...)
The simplest way for me is to take 2 cups day old COLD rice, put into VERY HOT SKILLET OR WOK with about 2 T oil, break up and toss to coat in oil, add well drained frozen peas and carrots, stir, add left over chicken, pork or whatever you like, cut fairly small (those little cooked shrimps from the seafood counter are nice, too). Toss with soy sauce, a teeny tiny pinch chinese 5 spice (or use a fried rice seasoning packet, following directions), If you want egg, simply push the rice/veg/meat to the side, pour beaten egg into well, stir and cook until done, mix through. Garnish with sliced scallions (green onions, whites and green tops) and a little drizzle of dark sesame seed oil for added flavor and aroma.

Soy sauce, Au Jus, any broth.
You don't need a wok. a pan to scramble... but... think why can't you scramble an egg in a pot ???
what's a wok but a big open pot.

Use rice that has been pre cooked, and if it is too moist spread out on a baking sheet in a warm oven. Turn occasionally and then fry.
As you fry stir it from time to time. I find a flat based fry pan is best as the range element doesn't provide enough heat to adequately heat a wok

This one is really easy to make, get some Uncle Ben's premium instant rice. Make it according to the directions but instead of water use your favorite flavor of broth as a substitute.
Heat a wok with a bit of oil in it (for fried rice I usually use peanut oil with a little tiny bit of sesame oil) I then add frozen diced carrots mixed with peas that I have thawed, diced onions, a little bit of fresh ginger chopped super fine, soy sauce to taste. When the veggies and onions have wilted a little add the cooked rice. Heat for a few minutes and then add bean sprouts. Cook for just a few more minutes and eat!! Hope it works for you!

This is what I do -- In the grocery store (in the Asian food section) there are packets of Fried Rice Seasoning. It is really good and you don't need to worry about the soy sauce, garlic, onion powder etc.
Scramble two eggs in a skillet.
In a wok heat some oil (i use olive oil) and cook whatever vegetables and meat that you like. (I use peas, green onions, and carrots).
When your veg. and meat are cooked add the egg and the cooked rice and the seasoning from the packet and mix it all together.
Add soy sauce to your taste -- and enjoy.

You aren't an idiot. You are not posting another stupid question. I have no Idea how to make fried rice. I am going to copy libby's recipe & try it. I have always wanted to make it but I never knew what to do.

The trick to making fried rice is to use day-old cooked rice, lol. It has to be kind of dry in order to fry well... otherwise it sogs up and won't absorb any flavor.
Here's a recipe to try:
FRIED RICE WITH PORK
-3 TBS vegetable oil
-1 onion, chopped
-1TBS chopped garlic
-4 ounces of pork, cut into small cubes (this is a great way to use up any leftover barbecued pork or chicken!)
-2 eggs, beaten
-4 cups cooked rice
-2 TBS fish sauce (availabe in the Asian section of most supermarkets--look for the primary ingredients to be anchovies, salt, sugar and water)
-1 TBS dark soy sauce
-1/2 tsp superfine sugar (put sugar in a zip-top bag and roll over the bag with a rolling pin until kind of powdery)
-4 scallions, finely sliced, to garnish
-2 red chilis, sliced, to garnish
-1 lime, cut into wedges and egg omelet, to garnish
Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan. Add the onion and garlic and cook for abuot 2 minutes, until softened.
Add the pork to softened onion and garlic. Stir-fry until the pork changes color and is cooked.
Add the eggs and cook until scrambled into small lumps
Add the rice and continue to stir and toss, to coat it with the oil and prevent it from sticking.
Add the fish sauce, soy sauce and sugar and mix well (I like to mix these ingredients beforehand and just add to the wok all together). Continue to fry until the rice is thoroughly heated. Garnish with sliced scallions, red chilis and lime wedges. If you like, top with a few strips of egg omelet.

cook some rice but not too long,then cut bell peppers and put it on a frying pan for a few minutes then add the rice let it cook for a while and enjoy! (you might have to do it over and over again if for a lot of people.).

make rice ahead of the time, chocp up onion, scallion and pieces of chicken, throw some oil in the pan, season the rice, drop an egg in and fry with the other veggies until the egg is cooked. simple and delicious .

There are lots of versions but here is one we use the most:
1 cup regular long grain rice
6 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
salad oil
1-8 oz. pkg bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons green onions
Prepare rice as label directs. Refrigerate cooked rice until well chilled.
In medium bowl, beat eggs and salt lightly. In 12 inch skillet over high heat, heat 3 tablespoons salad oil until very hot. Pour in egg mixture, cook, stirring quickly and constantly with spoon until eggs are the size of peas and leave the side of pan. Reduce heat to low.
Push eggs to one side of skillet. In same skillet gently stir rice and 2 tablespoons salad oil until rice is well coated with oil. Add bacon and soy sauce, gently stir to mix all ingredients in skillet; heat mixture through. (I add some petite peas to this)
Spoon fried rice into warm bowl and sprinkle with green onions. 6 servings
