He is a two year old housebroken dog with no health problems. I don't know how to make the barking and peeing stop. My other dog has no problems being in her kennel.

Barking starts as soon as he is put in the kennel. He is in there for only 3 hours and he pees. When I am home, he holds it longer than that.

Many dogs are usually well behaved in their kennels because it is thier den, their personal space that is there's alone. This is why they normally do not pee in there, because it is their home space and they do not want to abuse it or make it unpleasant to be in.

However, your dog sounds like he doesn't want to be in his kennel, by his behavior. There are many possible reasons:

-Has he been in the kennel long? Long enough to treat it like his home? If not, then it will take a little while before he does. Put him in his kennel at the far end of the house for the night (after taking him outside to relieve himself) and leave him there for that night. Don't let him out or clean the pee till morning (clean him too if he wet on himself). Ignore him for the night though, even if he barks or pees, he needs to learn that he will be in there for a while, and has to treat it like his home. It may take a few nights (perhaps longer than a week) but he should come to understand that no matter what.

-If your dog was recently extremely frightened just before or while he was in his kennel, then he may fear the place now. Don't yell at your dog while its in the kennel, even if its barking. He needs to see the kennel as his sanctuary (den). Try the above steps for the first cause to solve this problem too.

-The kennel may be large enough that he can pee at one end and still be comfortable. If this is the case, get the appropriate kennel size for your dog.

-How long is he left in the kennel? A dog can be in the kennel for the night, and under six hours during the day, as long as they are excercised pleanty later. If you leave your dog in the kennel for too long, they will not like their kennel and immediately see it as a prison for the day. Do not put your dog in for more than six hours a day, and if you can, try leaving him out of the kennel in a normal room. Also, try putting the dog in there for random periods of time, like ten or fifteen minutes, so he realizes that just because he is in the kennel, he won't be in there forever.

-If these steps fail, your dog may have a bladder problem and may need to see the vet. It could be he is simply barking because he needs to pee and can't hold it.

Hope this helps!

You need to make sure your dog feels "at home" inside the kennel. Put toys inside and play with him in and around the kennel. Once he goes in, if he begins barking, you MUST ignore the barking. If you let him out when he barks, you are reinforcing the unwanted behavior.
To minimize peeing in his kennel, be sure to take him out immediately before he goes in and be sure not to leave him in for too long. How big is the kennel? If he is peeing in it, it means one of 3 things, his bladder is too small to hold it, the kennel is too big for him, or he has a bladder problem. I had a dog with neurological problems that would pee where he slept. Dogs (just like humans) don't like to sleep on their pee. If he does pee inside the kennel the only way to stop it is if you catch him in the act... Otherwise he doesn't understand what you are scolding him for. You have to stop him while he is peeing and tell him firmly "no" and take him outside to finish going. Hope this helps!

Is it locked up all day? If so I'd pee and bark too. My dogs are in their crates only to sleep at night. Once they start going to the bathroom in their crates {kennel} its very hard to break them of it. Make sure you put him out to use the bathroom prior to putting him in and he does not drink anymore after he has gone pee outside. But again do not lock him up all day

maximum, if no longer all dogs, won't sleep close to or on something that smells like their pee. it incredibly is why that's often straight forward to potty prepare domestic dogs. the domestic dogs will whine and whine of their crate while they might desire to pass pee. i've got continually been instructed that adult males are extra durable to coach than women because of the fact they pass pee extra many times and for territorial marking motives. Are you making useful to furnish your dogs an excellent form of time to do all his organization in the previous he's placed into the crate for the night? Are you useful he does not whine to get out interior the midst of the night and you are going to be able to't hear him? it would desire to be that he merely will no longer be able to hold it the completed night yet. 4 months previous remains very youthful. i think of the guideline of thumb grew to become into that for each month of age is corresponding to an hour in terms of ways long they might carry it. you are able to attempt choosing up the water bowl a minimum of an hour in the previous mattress time. you are able to attempt making the kennel smaller, so as that he will no longer be able to push the grimy pad removed from him. you additionally can attempt a sprint one exhibit screen to make certain if he's whining to get out at night. in case you will no longer be able to take heed to him, then there is no longer something for him to do different than merely pass pee.
