Any dentists here?

I have a crack in one of my front upper teeth. The crack isn't large enough for a piece of my tooth to completley break off, but it is large enough to cause me pain when exposed to cold and sugar. What should be done about it and how much would it cost?

FROM WHAT YO SAY THERE IS SOME PAIN WHEN THE TOOTH IS EXPOSED TO COLD AND SUGAR.
THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE CRACK MAY BE DEEP ENOUGH TO BE CLOSE TO THE NERVE.
THE TOOTH MAY NEED A ROOT CANAL AND A CROWN.
HOWEVER, DEPENDING ON EXACTLY HOW IT CRACKED A BONDED FILLING MAY TAKE CARE OF IT.

I am not a dentist but I am a dental assistant. Based on cases I've seen in our office, it sounds like you might need a root canal and crown on the tooth. This is usually needed to fix cracked teeth. The fee for all that in my office would be around $1200. But you should see your dentist to find out for sure, if the crack isn't too extensive they might be able to just drill it out and place a filling. But since you are having sensitivity the nerve is probably upset, thereby requiring the previously mentioned procedure. Good luck.

There are several dentists who post here, but none of them will make a diagnosis without seeing you.

They could make a general guess about some appropriate procedures and fees, but they wouldn't do you any good.

You need to see a local dentist and ask for a consultation visit. Advice about health care over the internet is worth about what you pay for it.

Well if you live in MD You can go to my dentist he is great and he doesn't hurt me:) Just got to a dentist and get the crack fixed>>>> If you have dental insurance the insurnace pays for major fixes like you have.
