I try to understand where people are coming from, and not just slot their beliefs into my frame of thinking.
I read books by people I don't agree with, as books by people whose views I aready accept tend to be less of a mental workout. (I know what *they* are going to say, by and large!)
Having, before now, caught myself believing things that were nothing more than myths, I am rather inclined to recheck what I think I know.
Battle of the Somme a disaster?
Humanity the pinnacle of evolution?
Columbus proved the world was round?

My world view is wide open. I know that I don't know everything. Hell, I hardly know anything. Being on Yahoo Anwers challenges my world view. So do newspapers, books, TV, movies, other people.
