Just believe in yourself!
He's only a human, your equal!
Would you be afraid to talk to yourself?
Just go up and say Hi!

flirt. Yes, start with flirting.. make sure he is interested. Plus you won't have to go up to him, he will go to you. When you are near him look at him, smile and blush and act shy.. in a cute flirty way (which you should blush easy since you are shy). Get his eye contact. If he smiles back, he's interested. Just wait until next time and walk by and give him a smile - make sure to make eye contact. If he is at all interested he will say hello to you and come up to you. I used to be very shy, and that's the one way that I learned if a guy is interested without being embarassed. Plus they don't get the wrong impression either.

See if you can get some friend to act as a go between, and feel out, what he's thinking if anything.
Try to get together with him, in a group of kids your own age. It's always easier to chat in a group, rather than one on one.
All you have to do, is say 'hello' to him, and 'how are you', and then let things take their own course.
It could be done as you pass each other, so that's pretty easy. Just try it, see how it works, and remember to smile at him. Make eye contact.
If he likes you, he'll make a move.

It's not like you have to go up to him and say "oh my gosh you're hot and I love you!" because then I'd understand why you'd be nervous. Just ease into it. Like one day, tell him you like what he's wearing, then a few days later casually say something to him but not out of the blue. He might even start a conversation with you the first day. Or you can just be bold and tell him you're interested. Some guys like that. And it doesn't matter if you're rejected because it's his loss.

Okay if you really like this guy then don't be shy. Just be your self and don't try to be some one you aren't. That's the best thing i can tell you now.

Like Nike says: Just Do It.

If you don't, you'll just continue to fret on it and wonder 'what if'? You cannot magic a robot into pretending it's you and starting a conversation. Suck it up and walk up to him.

Practice your speech with a friend several times, and when you do it, spend a few minutes before hand breathing deeply and slowly to relax.
You'll be fine.

If your pretty he'll go out with you, if your not it may not be pretty, but guys always like it if a girls says she likes him, that way they're not the ones always breaking the ice. Trust me, if only i would get that.
