Could strengthening my thighs and calves make me faster in running

I'm not 100 percent sure but I think it would since you are more toned and your body is more healthy, you will have more energy to keep up the speed. So. Probably Yes!

Short answer is maybe but long answer is doing bodybuilding techniques to strengthen yuor legs could actually slow you down!

Here is some tips do some romanian deadlifts explosivley, front squats and backsquats explosivley, and deadlift explosivley, mixed in with some classic 5 sets of 5 reps of these excercies like once a week and yuo will build up yuor strength size and explosiveness to creater better stronger faster legs and core.

The main reason is you really have to work on hamstring development to get a faster run time.
