Everyone should read Blogging the Bible on Slate by David Plotz. He is a semi-non-practicing Jew who wanted to know more about the basis of his religion and his heritage. He has a very open perspective on the Bible, and shows it for what it is, a collection of stories by a bunch of ancient people trying to explain the world and doing so in vastly different ways.

I would love to try to explain this to you but I don't believe that you would understand. Try reading the new testament. The old testament was under the old covenant before Jesus came to redeem us from the curse of sin and death that Adam & Eve chose for us back in the garden. God gave us all an option now through his son Jesus Christ (again read the new testament) to be redeemed but it's up to each one of us to choose it. In the old testament, people didn't have that choice. Why do you guys take what you want and not look into the whole word of God? Why are you out to disprove God so bad? Please read the new testament and ask God to show you the truth and I promise you he will.
I speak to that Anti-Christ spirit right now in the name of Jesus Christ and command the scales to come off of this persons eyes so that he may see the truth of the word!

A careful study of the Bible and a long hard look at reality (everyday experiences) have led many a person to atheism.

properly, i might attempt to hold him sparkling of church and faith till he's a minimum of 18. then you definately adult males can take a glance at to remodel him if youin case you pick. i don't desire to poison his ideas at an early age. basically when you consider which you spend all this time worshipping a medieval fantasy does not recommend each and every individual will could. I understand you assume its so much less complicated to remodel a toddler than a grown guy, when you consider that they are greater effective impressionalble, although you additionally could beware when you consider that some individuals don't like it for our infants.

A brain? Objectivity? Logic? Reason? Sundays off...
All good reasons. Is the bible the best? Not sure. It's right up there, though!

That's the thing about all of the different flavors of Christianity...
Differences occur because people/denominations make judgment calls about:
What is important,
What is unimportant,
What is literal,
What is symbolic,
What is poetic,
What is no longer applicable and
What is irrelevant.
The Bible is a double edged sword!

Oh I am right there with you buddy. The bible is a poorly written piece of bronze age fiction, nothing more.
Anyone who says differently is either lying or fooling themselves.

How about your brain & common sense? Second thought, you go ahead & keep using your bible. Using your brain may be dangerous.

No. It's really an excellent tool for pointing out its own absurdities, contradictions, injustice, intolerance, cruelty, and violence.
