Mi morality is decided on a per case basis, Since the only frame of reference that can be correctly deduced is that i exist, above it everything else is built. To decide what is "right" or "wrong" I make the decision of what is best, by using the available information I have, premade concepts and moral values, anecdotal value judgments, and finally adding feelings and subconscious factors(empathy). That is viewing reality trough a prism of knowledge, experience and feelings. What i mean is that "I cannot perform evil" i only perform negative or damaging behavior, always paying the price, be it social, psychological or physical.
About the origin of man and universe, I use science as a tool to explain those different phenomena, that's because I am my reference frame and the things i perceive are the only ones i'm sure that exist, therefore I m a rational materialist, and as such, logic and the scientific method are the only adequate tools I can use to obtain further knowledge.
About the purpose of man I agree with Nietzsche that man is a rope not a end, and that we must strive to improve as a species using whatever tool in our disposal(DNA modification, Nanotech ), but always preserving our humanity(in the philosophical sense). On the individual level we must strive to learn, develop technology and live as happy as possible, always working and hoping for a better tomorrow.
Religion Offers a cocoon, that protects people minds from the real world, from being alone, gives them hope, morality and an objective, all without having to lift a finger. In other words wishful thinking and sweet delusion.

~~~SN,,,,, I practice The Golden Rule with an Understanding of The Law of Karma (Cause & Effect) that we are Accountable for our Actions and the Ultimate Goal is "Enlightenment" ,,,and graduation from Earth School. ~~Christianity has very much to offer if one keeps in perspective that the Symbolism of this religion's Iconography and Allegory has Specific Meanings which were Plagiarized from philosophies predating it by 100's and 1,000's of years, which have been Lost to the corruption and greed of the very Keepers of The Faith. However in it's current form it only serves it's Human Masters and offers very little in the way of Spiritual Nourishment and Perpetuates Misinformation.
Nothing too revolutionary.
Somewhere between C S Lewis on the Tao and Karl Jaspers on society, I have most moral issues covered.
Throw in a little Forteanism to allow for things in heaven and earth that are not yet in my philosophy
(Dark matter and energy's had to creep in over the years, for instance.)
The good and bad of Christianity tend to be closely linked. At it's best it can demonstrate what a caring community can do. At it's worst it can demonstrate the potential of communities for tyranny and petty-mindedness.
Look at it this way Sho-Nuff all religions have their positive and negative aspects to them. If everybody were to focus more on the positive aspects of all of the different religions then things wouldn't be as messed up as they are right now. I personally feel that all religions have something different to offer to different people. It all boils down to how people go about applying those aspects into their daily lives. I feel that if people find happiness within religion then good for them. Some people find happiness within religion while others find happiness without religion altogether.
We all should do onto others,as we expect them to do with us, and respect our parents, and we shouldn't covet what others have; so, the commandments are basic laws we should all follow, but the bible as a whole is just a bunch of letters that a few scribes and a king decided to put together, to try and hold as "proof" of their God. So, the sun rises and sets everyday, but not because I sacrifice a human heart to the god, Huitzilopitchli!
Surprisingly, I do think Christianity has some good things about it. Some of the commandments (though not all of them) make sense, eg about not stealing or killing. Others, like not coveting your neighbour's wife, are just senseless.
I'm a Satanist and that is my personal philosophy, though Satanism is different for everyone. You have to find your own way. It works for me.
Christianity does offer some people peace of mind. And there have been many people in the gutter of life who have found help in belief.
My personal philosophy is that life is short, we don't know what happens after it, so we should make the best of it. Everyone should be free to believe what they believe, do what makes them happy, and be who they are, as long as the pursuit of these goals brings no harm to anyone else.
Christianity can have some thing to offer, but too many people use it as an excuse to police everyone else.
christianity has a lot of good rules, just liek any other religions.
its people who take it to far or enforce their beleifs on others that ruin a religion. Christianity has done both, and in some parts of the world still is. (US is one of those)
It's completely useless like all other religions. Serves no purpose whatsoever, except maybe population control since they are always killing each other, but if not for religion the world wouldn't be so overpopulated, so no, no purpose.
