I have a smokehouse that I use to cook beef jerky. I want to start smoking/cooking cow bones to give to my dog, and to sell.

Don't smoke them, dogs will get cancer faster than humans from the carcinogens produced by the smoke. Make sure the bones are long enough at LEAST 4", they can get their jaws stuck in short bones. I bake my puppers bones for about 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Make sure they're cool enough to hold in your hand before you give them to her.

My pooch LOVES these! I cover them with water and let them boil gently in a large pot for 30 - 45 minutes. If you cook much longer the flavor will cook out. Be sure to cool for an hour or two - the marrow can stay hot a long time.

hope you have a large dog.boil bones for 30 to 45 minutes if it is a large bone as in the femur thats the upper leg bone and the lower bones too.best to say to boil all bones at least 30 minutes and add water when its needed. if you can buy a large pot and prepare this outside because it will stink up your home.

You going to have to check with some officials with animal health about marketing rules.
But for your pets I would start with a quick boil to extract some of the marrow for beef stock. then the smoker for at least as long for jerkey.
BUT your pets aren't going to notice your effort of smoking it.
PS bones are just as expensive as meat.
Most stores are by request only.
