Yes meditation really works!

There are many ways to meditate and many religious tradtions in which to explore meditation. You need to decide which one is right for you.

There is Transcendental Meditation, Chakra Meditation and more. The basics of all practices however, whether they involve visualization or chanting are:

1) Clearing of the mind
2) Focus on the breath
3) Total relaxation of all the muscles
4) Non-forced concentration of the above.

Here is a simple starter technique.
Find a nice quiet spot to sit comfortably.
If you like, play some soft music.
Close your eyes and focus on your breath.
Breath in slowly through your nose and out slowly through your mouth. Do not force!
Visualize the breath as light entering your nose.
See it going into your windpipe and into your lungs and as it travels into your body it fills your body with light as well.
See it travelling into your limbs, up you neck, down your back and every muscle it touches relaxes and lets go
You may feel like you are sinking deeper into your chair or feel your head nod. That's good, let it happen.
Then feel like the light has filled you up so much it begins to seep through your pores and fill the space around you.
Soon you are glowing and surrounded by a halo of light
You should feel warm and peaceful and protected inside.

Open your eyes and take that feeling with you into your day.

many many ways to meditate and they all work to make you calmer and more concentrated/ you don't say what you want from meditation or what religion if any you are interested in. / but there are basiclly two types of meditation. concentration and insight meditation and almost every system starts with a concentration practice. i'll introduce you to a website that is very broadbase and not too esoteric and has instructions on how to meditate./ i did it for years and it worked for me. (now i do something different because i wanted to, not because there was anything wrong with what i was doing)/

Meditation works wonders!!!! I learned alot of new things about my self and things around me. Through meditation I found a way for a car to run on air. To clean up the ozone and I learned mroe about myself. Just find a peaceful room. and think about your forehead

Imagine it tingling and then eventually it will tingle. You made yourself believe that it is tingling. This sensation make it spread over your body. When it covers your whole body imagine your body seperating into pieces and then just let your mind wander. It takes extreme concentration but the end result is cool.

Many different ways. The one I like best is to just relax slow down breathe deep and gently push aside all thoughts until you are void of all thoughts. Thoughts will try to return gently push them away again. It rocks. Try it!
