Handgun and Compound Bow for deer.
Recurve Bow for Bow fishing.
45-70 and Handgun Wild hogs.
Coyotes/Bobcats and all varmints 223 or 25-06 and Handgun.

Every season and every species has a different answer... In the course of a hunting season I use a PSE Compound bow, 10, 12 and 20 ga shotguns, a .44 magnum pistol, a 30-06 rifle and a .50 cal muzzleloader. How could you choose just one?????

Thompson-center Encore 209-50 muzzloader or Ruger bisley 45 colt w/ 7 1/2 inch barrel, both for whitetail deer.
My squirrel gun is a heavy barreled ruger 10-22 which get more use than the other two....

its a toss up. i just love to hunt. im best with my 12 gauge and my .270. but lately ive been shooting my bow more, and i can honestly say that if i have a semi clear shot at anything within 20 yards it wont make it far. 4 squirrels to vouch for that.

For deer, .54 cal. black powder rifle and , as my eyes start to fail, Remington 12 ga. pump shotgun with scope.
For squirrels, .22 rifle with scope or sometimes a .410 shotgun.
For birds, 12 ga. pump. I happened to be lucky enough to have land in the deer capital of Illinois, Pike County.
