To Gui.
There is no evidence in the OT that the serpent is Satan.
Chippy one cannot deny that there is no evidence of Satan disobeying God in the OT.
There is no evidence of Satan disobeying God in the NT either.

Satan is not stupid. He does not come outright and tell God NO! Even he knows that would be pushing it too far.
He disobeys by raising questions first and getting man to sin by lying to Adam & Eve in Genesis.
From that point, he opposes God and causes problems for man untill today. Adam & Eve share responsibilty for this as well. We want to blame Satan for all our problems but frequently it is plainly just our own fault. Satan is happy but he did not do a thing.
In Job he questions man's willingness to obey God as ruler. With God's permission, he tries to get Job to declare against God which he refuses.
Proverbs 27: 11 finds God telling His servants to "...make my heart rejoice that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me.
By the time of Jesus' baptism, Satan was firmly in control of the earth. We know this because when Jesus was tempted by Satan, Jesus replied what the Mosaic Law stated. Never when Satan offered him control of all the governments of the world, did he say they were not his to offer. A few years later, Satan was identified to all as "the ruler of this world" in opposition to God.

In the desert satan tried to tempt Christ. And what was Christ's statement to satan? Didn't Christ tell him that he broke a written commandment. Didn't He tell him that it is written that thou shall not tempt the lord thy god?

That one was slick... even though I am Christian, I will recognize that one as a legitimately clever remark.
Nice.
