No, it is not exactly essential,
But it can make a relationship complete. In the sense, u r not leaving one bit that is not shared by u with him.. Definitely sexual intimacy matters.. We are human beings and when we are commited to someone, why crave for having sex with someone else?
Its an expression of love, care and need..

I think that would depend on the parties involved. In my personal case, I'd have to say that some form of intimacy is definitely neccessary. But it all depends on the people ... perhaps you're not ready for sex until after marriage ... there are other ways of providing intimacy other than sex. So in general I guess, sex is not essential ... however that would for sure depend on the people in the relationship. It's hard for me to go without sex ... so if in a relationship where I couldn't have sex ... I may stray ... so to avoid being a cheater ... I stay out of those situations.

It is to me. Married or not, if I'm in a relationship that isn't just friendship, I would want to share emotional and sexual intimacy with my partner.

I think sexual intimacy comes after marriage...because marriage is the true committed relationship between a man and a woman.
Sex should not come before marriage no matter how committed you are.
