Christians: Why do you think the serpent in Genesis was Satan?

Genesis says the serpent was cursed to crawl on it's belly and eat dust. Does Satan crawl on his belly and eat dust?

Gen 3:14
And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

The judgements had spiritual meanings, Man did inherit death and man did crush his head and he did bruise our heal...his head was crushed with the resurrection of Christ and he did bruise our heal as it was the flesh that paid the penalty. The Bible tells us in Revelation that the serpent was the Devil and Satan.

But when God says in the passage" I will put enmity between
thy seed and the womans seed" Who is he talking to? He is talking to Satan..The seed of the woman is Christ...the seed of Satan is those against Christ the conflict has been there hundreds of years. we don't think that the serpent is satan other than the fact that satan incarnated himself in this being known as the serpent. it was the only other creature that God ever created that was upright just like man and could hold an intellectual conversation with man. we will never find darwin's missing link because God changed the serpent's form so we would not recognize him today
