PA has local taxes, school taxes (in some locals) as well as state taxes (3.07%) and unemployment taxes(.09%). There is also OPT tax in many locales which was raised from $10 a year to $54 a year two years ago. For more information on PA taxes go to: http://www.revenue.state.pa.us/revenue/cwp/view.asp?a=3&Q=69002&subID=I for state, http://munstatspa.dced.state.pa.us/MunicipalTaxInfo.aspx for local and http://www.dli.state.pa.us/landi/cwp/view.asp?a=362&q=237597 for unemployment taxes

The state income tax rate is 3.07% Most places in PA also have a 1% local tax on earned income. It's a lot higher than 1% in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

This is, of course, in addition to federal taxes which are the same in all states.

A lot. I used to live there. You have your state, federal, social security, Priviledge to work tax (10.00 once a year) at least it was before, they can also take out local. When we lived there my husband made less money after all the taxes were taken out than he did in Texas. I hope you were talking about Pennsylvania
