The media is making a fortune from these disasters.
They show images of people in pain, the killer ranting and talk non stop about contraversial issues surrounding the event. All the while they get more advertising dollars from companies promoting products during the commercials.
It is sick and discusting, and the people who call themselves journalists today, should be ashamed. I have stopped watching, for this very reason.
The kids that died needlessly should be given respect, and the media seems intent on exploiting their family members and giving this tragedy and the killer a platform.
Shameful.

Regardless of whether he was being serious or not, it needed to be taken serious. He needs to be locked up!!
I think it has gone to everyones head though...There have been bomb threats in 13 states since the VT shooting. People are sick! There are people out there just like Cho. and the sad thing is, its people on this earth that treat them bad and drive them to this. I dont think that is a way to solve anything but thaty thinks so.
America is the cause of this. We treat some people bad(not me specifically and maybe not who ever is reading this) but we dont think about what that does to those people! We need to wake up and learn that we could be the next person someone shoots because we were mean to them...
Thats not right, but they didn't deserve to feel the way they felt either. I dont agree with what Cho did and I am not making up excuses for him. However, if you want to prevent this from happenedint to you, then think about how you treat people and if you treat them bad then change that. You never know whos life you might save...maybe your own! That is how I am looking at things now. I want to be here as long as i can! However, at the rate this earth is going. I have no idea. I just pray for all the individual that were hurt by this and I prayer for the ones that are doing the bomb threats and saying such things like the 14yo did.
May God Bless You!

Yes I think that this is what the police are concerned about the impact such an action will have on other vunerable youngsters.
We can only hope that it will not be glorified as you mentioned but the realisation that it was a brutal and vile crime against fellow humans.
But do we hold life deaR these days? No I fear the life has been cheapened and it will take a long time for it to be respected once more. So I think we can expect further killings though I do hope I'm proved wrong...yes very wrong.

No, the killers should not be glorified.
But hopefully this V Tech incident will go to peoples heads, right up there to their brain and start this society thinking about how we are failing our young people.
The decline of our society started when the family unit began to get broken up by mothers giving up their roles as nurturers and deciding that their roles as money providers was more important.
I do think it is ok for women to work and for them to get equal pay, but if a woman decides to have children I definitely think that she should make her family the priority over a career.
Our children need us. It does take a village to raise a child.

Statistically, that's how it happens.
One dysfunctional kid gets the idea to get his or her 15 minutes of fame after all the media hype of a shooting.
So they tend to come in spurts. Over the next few weeks we will undoubtably have another shooting.
Just this morning at my office I had a call from a man who "identified" with the "oppressed" shooter. He'd entirely twisted what the media has said about this poor boy. To suit his own ideas.

I think the ranking of the killing as the biggest ever and the dwelling on it is not beneficial. I do think that the reporting of the causes and what the young man could have done to receive help is good though. It may help other people who are struggling with depression, and others may see the warning signs of violence.

actually it grew to alter into suitable right into a stupid, insulting fact. i do no longer think of of this is a racist fact, besides the reality that. It wasn't a fact bearing on the participant's race yet extremely their collective hairstyles. Being "nappy-headed" isn't the unique part of blacks (however there are lots of who would desire to desire to be called that); there are others who're no longer black who would desire to desire to be called at the same time with nicely. The "ho" fact, i do no longer probably understand why that grew to alter into into stated, till Imus extremely spit it out off the cuff. i understand that comments have been additionally made out of infinite of the girls folk being heavily tattooed and appearing "annoying-looking" yet how that would reason them to "hos" i do no longer understand. That being stated, Sharpton, Jackson, et al are searching for yet yet another threat to further their schedule by capacity of annoying Imus' firing and putting yet yet another "whitey", "honky", or maybe with in his/her place, all interior the call of political correctness. Imus will proceed his occupation in radio, no count if he's fired for this or no longer.

I do think the media are over covering the event. As someone said in here earlier, 3,000 + kids dead in Iraq and we don't hear more than 30 seconds.

The media as usual has went too far. . .it will stop as soon as the next "big thing" happens and then sadly VT will too soon be forgotten.
