Producers struggle with the money problems.
Directors struggle with the actors' problems.
Stage Managers struggle with everybody.

Producers well the produce. They get everything together for a show, get the financing, obtain all the required crew etc.

The Director, is in charge of the actual shoot, where the cameras are located, how he wants the actors to portray a charachter etc.

In a grossly generalized simplification, Directors are typically responsible for the creative content and artistic vision of a show, guiding designers and actors toward a common vision.

Producers are the business head. They find investors to fund the project, make executive decisions and generally are there to ensure the venture turns a profit.
