yes! religion causes conflict because of the different doctrines of every religion. They are insisting that they are in the true church /religion, how ever they are not, because they are fighting physically(flesh and Blood) like the Palestine and Israelites, also other religion uses physical contact to defend their religion. It is true and biblical speaking, religion has a fight but not by physical means to attack other religion. (Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.) In Eph 6.12 you notice that there is a fight of true Christian. it is also written in the bible that Jesus prohibited or prohibits Christian to harm physically their oppressors. Jesus stop Peter to used his sword (Mat 26:51-52 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. ) It is understood that Jesus teaches real Christian to love their enemies. In the bible not all man are Christian so it is understood that there are other religion that do not believe and accept the doctrines of Christ. It is biblical that there is only one and true religion, and man should seek the true religion where there is peace and harmony

Religions may or may not be the cause of conflict. Often the conflict may have started over religion but time has blurred the initial reasons and now the hate is just self perpetuating. Other conflicts have used religion as a reason or excuse but the conflict had nothing to do with religion - this was the case for the crusades. I'd say humans are by nature a territorial animal, but can overcome this if they try.

Maximo,
It isn't religion per se that causes conflict; it is the very diverse natures of man. Religion is manmade; therefore we have different dogmas and doctrines to coincide with the different natures of man.
Tom is an atheist because he believes that he believes in nothing. Jane is Southern Baptist because her whole family is and she knows nothing else. Gene is Catholic and believes that it is the only religion because it is the 'oldest'. And Mary is a Jehovah Witness and believes that her religion is the only chosen one.
Man created the differences through various rituals, traditions, church laws, etc. The religion may be based on the Bible, but the trappings of it can differ quite a bit. The conflict comes when one set of trappings (rituals, laws, traditions) come up against a different set of trappings. Then its the boys at play - My religion is better than yours!

Some people have a need to be right. They define who they are by having conflicts with others. They are not content to live and let live.
Some people use religion as an excuse to do bad things to other people. I don't know of any religion that wants people to be that way. It is the people who mess it up.

Because rather than declaring each person's religion isn't applicable to everyone they hide the fact in angry rhetoric. Sadly many followers of this rhetoric don't try to understand this and they plunge forward to defend physically what should only be defended philosophically. If your religion has to prove itself to you or you feel the need to defend it then you need to find one that you can philosophically get behind.
My religion isn't liked by many (add your religion here) and I get tired of trying to defend it philosophically as well as my right of freedom of religion in this country. That right is written in the Constitution as well as rules that demand that church and state must not affect each other. To remove the religious pressure on government I will fight, but fight about my religion with others I won't. I'm comfortable with what I believe and it doesn't need or require anyone elses input to make it any more right for me. It is FREE WILL!

Not all religions do....only those who claim to be the "one true" religions. By definition, they are not accepting of other points of view, which naturally leads to conflict.

Because you are dealing with eternity and family members.
If a muslim says Muhammad is the only true Prophet and the way to eternal paradise is only found in the Koran, then in essence he is telling all other religions that they are all doomed, and that their dead family members aren't in paradise.
Thats a bit rough, but the same applies to Christians.
People tend to get a little touchy when it comes to dead relatives.

Yes different religion teaches different doctrines and meanings. Yet it's our choice to take up whichever religion that we have faith in. In doing that all the more we need to adopt patience and respect for others and their beliefs too!
Maybe I am a simpleton and cannot comprehend why different beliefs generate hostility.

i am a catholic and i am always criticised for it. but it gets to my nerve because, i believe that you can be in any religion and consent to the same regulations given by God...not evryone needs to be in the same religion but the follow the ten commandment adn stop critizising catholics..some of us are a true followers and if u are one too teh first to to do is love ur brother as u love yourself and by critizising catholics u u are not being a good christian....
