I am allergic to peanuts (the allergist checked) and I think it could be getting worse. It used to be that if I eat them I would get allergic.

Now if I walk by peanuts/ or sniff it my eye gets itchy and watery, but not puffy.

Am I just imagining things?

No you're not. Allergies can change or intensify as we age. Mention this to your dr. Be safe.

No, you are not imagining things. I am allergic to the scent, touch, and the taste of peanuts. You might want to stay away from peanuts and make sure you're not allergic to other nuts or anything in the legume family for that matter. If your allergy keeps on getting worse, I would keep Benedryl on you at all times and get an Epi Pen. Your allergy could keep on getting worse or get better. It really depends. I would really worry about your allergy if you had an anaphylactic reaction (a.k.a VERY BAD reaction) I hope you stay away from those peanuts and feel better.

Unfortunately, my understanding is that severe food allergies do tend to get worse with each exposure.

Aerosolised peanuts can be enough to set off mild reactions, particularly if you're in a situation like an aeroplane where the air is continually recirculated.

You can have psychosomatic reactions to peanuts as well though. I can't stand the smell of them and have to stay away from the fruit and veg aisles in supermarkets around Christmas because they pile nuts there!

I now have a severe tree-nut allergy. When I was younger, I could eat a few nuts, but now I cannot tolerate even a bit of a tree nut...my allergy has worsened as I've gotten older. As mentioned by a previous answer, you should probably get an epi pen, I have to keep one...sometimes nuts are hidden in foods. My allergy causes swelling of my tongue and throat, so if yours moves in that direction, it can be very dangerous.

No, the scent could be making you sick. You should stay away from peants since your allergy is so strong. I have heard that schools don't allow kids to bring pb/j sandwiches because someone has the peanut allergy.
