Realize that this is not an accurate cross-section of humanity. This is a small population, many of whom use the anonymity of the internet as a license to behave like a complete and utter jacka$s and say/do things they'd never say/do in real life.
Realize that the vocal minority you see here is just that - a vocal minority. The majority of Christians I know live their lives according to their faith, and do so without bothering anyone.
Not everyone is Margerite "The God Warrior"... it just seems like it in here sometimes.
I ignore the trolls and idiots - they're not worth the energy. For the folks who are posting their honest beliefs and living their lives by them, I respect that they have found a path that they find spiritually fulfilling. Even though it is a path that I have chosen not to follow, and at times I don't understand why they choose to follow it, if it works for _them_ then that's what matters.

Yes. R&S is not a good place for Christians who are unsure of what they believe. There are so many different people of different faiths and beliefs posting their opinions, you can easily become confused. Find a good bible based spirit filled church and take discipleship classes to get a good grounding on your faith. Don't return to R&S until you do that.
This is happening to you because the devil wants you to question your beliefs and lead you astray. Nobody can make me question what I believe because I have the grounding that I need in the word to know what the truth is and I have the reliance and trust in God and the testimony of His workings in my life. No one can tell me that my Father doesn't exist.
Please tread carefully and don't let these peoples "opinions" lead you astray from the destiny that you will fulfill for God.
For He knows the plans He has for you. Jeremiah 29:11

Same thing happened to me R. I came in with the greatest of intentions of learning and maybe instilling some wisdom for some folks. But quickly realized that it just doesn't work that way.
Although, I can say, I have learned allot. I see excuses from Christians that I used to use all the time, and now understand why they don't really work. Being here has calloused me, but has also helped me go out and seek real information and answers to questions.

Its easy to become bitter, especially in an environment like this. Just try to be patient and understanding - I hope that most of us Christians will do the same.
I'd hate to see you leave, because in my short time here, while I see an anti-Christian slant from you, I also see a person who is trying to be open and trying to test us and understand why we think like we do. That's a great thing!

You can't subject yourself to negativity like this and it not affect you. It's easy to fall into the rut where you find one group of people who act a certain way and then apply it to the whole group. It's normal... not right... but it is normal. I went thru this when I started in chatrooms.
You shouldn't be tolerant when you see someone using their religion to justify mistreatment of others. And we see a lot of that here, unfortunately.
Noooo, don't leave! I need other Non's to help keep me sane! *wink*

I think we should leave and have some drinks. Same thing happened to me. I came looking at religion looking for answers to Islam and found out that I really don't like the Christians.

I'm a christian but I tend not to judge non-christians or be hateful to anyone.
I tend to poke harmless fun at JWs, Catholics, and Mormons sometimes, but that is about the religion and not the people themselves.
As long as it's all in good fun, I think it's ok.

It was "culture shock" for me too when I first came to this site.
People here can be so vicious because they can say what they want in anonymity. I am sure many wouldn't dare say what they do here, if they were face-to-face with the person.

You chose to dive in. Remember its hard to play in the mud without getting any on yourself. It all began with a doubt--in the garden.
1Tim. 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Same to me... it's the trolls taking their toll.
Except I've become anti-troll - regardless of religious origin.
I still have my basic beliefs intact - and have many friends in many different religions - including atheists (who would say they're not religious).
Remember your friends, count them. Discount your opponents... there will always be opposition to your beliefs..
Remember your friends.
