If you research a medical encyclopedia, you will find that homosexuality is GENETIC!! Yet the Bible calls it a sin. Why would God make a person homosexual and then condemn them for being that way? Could it be that maybe; just maybe, we are wrong again, like when we executed women for exhibiting symptoms of witchcraft that we know today to be epilepsy?

How dare you bring logic and reason into this category. Now go stand in the corner until this disruptive mood of yours passes.

But if you insist:

Leviticus is from the Jewish bible. So what do Jews say about homosexuality?

Interestingly, neither the Torah nor the rabbinic tradition has much to say concerning lesbian relationships. It is the male's "spilling of seed" anywhere other than in the usual "place" that is seen as a sin). There are those, not all, who believe that the traditional laws against homosexuality originated in a more ritual context, since, for the most part, the word "ABOMINATION" was applied MORE IN THE RITUAL SPHERE OF LIFE than the ETHICAL.

The Torah seems to see homosexual relations in a cultic context rather than something more parallel to the interpersonal context of heterosexual relationships.

Although the sin of Sodom and Gemmorah is apparently homosexuality, later Jewish tradition, including the Biblical prophets, makes no reference to homosexuality and see the sins of Sodom and Gemmorah as cruelty and lack of hospitality to the "stranger" - xenophobia, as it were.

Reform Judaism, for the most part, seems to view the traditional prohibitions against homosexuality as mores from a bygone age, mores now replaced with clearer understandings of the reality of gender orientation as something which is beyond simple individual "preference."

As a whole, the Reform Movement, both the "lay people" and the rabbis have come out very strongly in favor of civil rights for gays and lesbians.

Edit: HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT "WRONG". It is NOT a sin, it is nothing to be ashamed of -- and those who condemn it are self-righteous fools.

If homosexuality is not genetic - then why is a former gay man telling everyone that it begins in the womb? And he has a "magic pill" solution to creating the baby(s) as heterosexuals while developing in the womb before they are all born?

With the proof out there in medicine in general - medical books, studies, and professional doctors testaments - the "moral" majority just don't want to believe it - even if they see it. So they say it's a choice. Their religious beliefs dictate to them that it is a sin - therefore it must be wrong. Only Christianity Bibles states as much that the sinners must be stoned to death. But the list contained within those Bibles goes far beyond just homosexuality in the punishment, and is long.

If God wanted them destroyed - condemned - then why would He send His son Christ to protect them as well as the other sinners?

Perhaps it was to show them that they are wrong in condemning the differences He created.

I have to admit I have pondered this. First of all, there is some debate over what the Bible REALLY says over being gay. Most interpret it to mean that it is wrong, while others say that this was stated in the Old Testament, when the earth needed to be populated, and that no one follows the OT anymore. We all eat shellfish (i.e. clams, etc.) right? Well, according to the OT, this is wrong. There was a reason behind this, being disease. Usually God's rules were laid out for a reason, whether it be increasing population, or preventing diseases from food sources.

Jewish people still follow the OT, so I can't speak for them.

Another idea is that some of us will have more "crosses to bear" than others. I think the Bible implies that it knows some will HAVE a tendency to be gay, but they will have to work hard to not follow through with it. By this I don't mean g oing to a Christian "Please make me un-gay camp" but rather that those should become priests and remain celibate etc.

I think we can all see that this is what many have done. ;)

Personally, I think people should have the right to be who they are, and I have no problem with gay people at all.

P.S. There really ARE some people who "choose" to be gay (i.e. Women who have been raped so they decide to only date women...WTF? Try counselling....), but just as most of us are hardwired to be attracted to the opposite sex, some are seemingly hardwired to be attracted to their own sex. As genetics is a special interest of mine, there HAVE been genes that are more frequently found in gay people. I also think that hormones present in the womb prior to birth may have an effect. Also, I think some of those who are gay may have legit medical hormonal imbalances. Most gay people do NOT choose to be gay, much like you didn't pick your eye color.

If you look at other medical texts you will see that it is NOT genetic. There are two sides to these issues and propaganda will lead certain parties to conclude in the desired direction.

There is hope for change out of homosexuality. Saying it is genetic condemns people that are unhappy to live a life of misery. I say that there IS hope for change, if you're unhappy, you don't have to stay that way!!! There is freedom through Jesus Christ!!! I am living proof. yesterday was the 10 yr mark from when I first started feeling gay, and I have now been free of it, totally straight for 2 years!!!! THank you Jesus!!!

Underdog: how many stories of former homos that teach gays to be straight end up going back to being gay? That's like trying to teach a black person to be white. Which by the way is just as unproveable in terms of genetics as homosexuality. Race is hard if not impossible (with today's technology) to determine by your genetic code, so finding a gene that proves homosexuality will be difficult.

Homosexual activity is optional behavior (I noticed you stated a "fact", but not a cite there is NO EVIDENCE that homosexuality is genetic - sorry, homosexuals are responsible for their actions just like everyone else).

The Bible (both old and new testaments) and the Quran denounce men having sex with men as an abomination DEMANDING of the death of the violators - that is the strongest type of sin (but it is forgiveable!).

G-d made you (and me) with the freedom of choice. We can do good or we can do bad. We will pay the penalty.

G-d created humans not robots.

You can stop, repent and get forgiveness!

The problem is that we are all prone to sin, sinning is "genetic" with us.
We are so good at excusing all wrong behavior with physical weakness instead of taking responsibility where we should.

God doesn't only condemn homosexuals, the whole human race is condemned. But anyone who wants to be freed from that condemnation can do so by accepting Jesus Christ into their lives.

So, you have never made something and decided it was full of mistakes. Nice to meet a perfect person. I thought He died on a cross....

Homosexuality is genetic? Must have been one of those San Francisco encyclopedias. Try reading more than one narrow source. You are obviously the type of person who goes to a book store to research a topic and finds 100 books on. 99 of 100 agree on their statements. You take the 100th book and spout it like gospel. Yeesh.

Re: Epilepsy.
We have done just fine, thank you. One of the greatest leaders ever had it - Caesar. Our problems have come from many more sources stupidity than the likes of you.

Homosexuality may or may not be genetic...but it does not stand that you SUBMIT to that pre-disposition...does it? For the infant born addicted to drugs....do we put cocaine in their formula? Or the Fetal-Alcohol Syndrome baby who is BORN that way....do we swop out the infant formula in the bottle and replace it with gin? These too -- through no fault of their own -- are born pre-disposed. Even adult alcoholism is an illness -- and should be treated as such....and with great compassion. Homosexuals -- through no fault of their own MAY be wired that way...but they should not be given over to it...any more than you'd give a "consenting" alcoholic a bottle of wine. Would you? Its called love the "sinner" (the sick, actually) but hate the sin. In doing so we would be lead into greater levels of compassion....not condemnation.

Oh....and, God did not create homosexuality....it is a result of the sin of our forefathers...Adam & Eve. We'll never understand fully all that we have lost because of their pride.

If its genetic, then why do some homosexual change their homosexual ways to lead a straight life? Give me a break here. IMO, its called "genetic" to make those who know its a wrong lifestyle feel better about their CHOICE to engage in homo sexual activities. After all, cant someone have the DESIRE to engage in that, yet refrain from the immoral act of intercourse out of wedlock?
