I need to ask out this one girl that I'm interested in. I know nothing about her but I want to go on a random date before I am out of college. I'm 22 and never asked out a girl before. How do I approach her given that I don't even know her name? I'm a bit nervous

You had better find out a little about her first. Maybe she has a 225 pound weight lifter boyfriend that is jealous? Maybe she's a lesbian. Ask some of her friends what she's like and would she be interested in a date. They'll know. QUIT being so shy, all a girl can say is no. Then move on.

I know from experience that when a random guy asks a girl out, she is usually more freaked out than flattered. So my advice is to not ask her out the first time you talk to her. Make small talk with her a few times on separate occasions, talking about school, work, whatever. By about the third time you've talked to her, she'll remember you as being a nice guy and you'll have a lot better chance of her agreeing to go out with you.

I would try to come up with some other excuse to talk to her first. Ask her if she knows where a particular classroom is, or something. Then you can use that to kick-start a longer conversation.

Now that you have met her, you have license to talk to her anytime you happen to run into her. After a few casual conversations, you can think about asking her out on a date.
