I am looking for a way to make my own layout from scratch. Houses and stuff. and good sites to find maybe where you can try out a few set ups before getting the board ready so you know what you need track wise. Please help

N scale trains are much smaller. You can look on Google or Wikipedia to find the exact scale of each one. HO is 3.5 mm:1 foot, or about 1:87 scale. N scale varies from 1:148 to 1:160. Most HO tracks are 16.5 mm wide, but there are narrower gauges, just as some railroads in the real world are built in different gauges. N scale track is 9 mm.

Atlas model RR has free software for track plans on their site. Woodland scenics for scenery, I do not know any for buildings
