B. Bacterial vaginosis is the most common cause of vaginal discharge, and vaginal infection, in women of childbearing age. BV, as it is referred to, happens when something throws off the normal bacterial balance in the vagina...causing an increase in the "bad" bacteria versus the "good" bacteria. The exact cause is unknown.
