Jesus taught from these scriptures and did say it was for him to fufill them he did not destroy but did fufill them and no they should not be ignored. Understand Christ brought grace and salvation from the penalty of the law. the law came first then came grace which is sort of the only way it could happen. those who accept the atonement Christ provided are by faith changed and are in agreement with the law not under the law as it was fufilled in the atonement.

The Israelites were unable to follow the law perfectly that is why the High Priest made the sacrifice of animals for the forgiveness for the Israelites inability to follow God's instructions.

Jesus grew up living the Old Testament laws perfectly. He completely fulfilled the law for us. The law was written to show us that we need Jesus. It is not to be ignored. Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice for us He is our High Priest, Our Lamb, the once and for all sacrifice for our sins.

Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn't the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. Mat 5:17

No, He said he did not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it.

I think your question is not about ignoring the law, but do we let legalism and strict adherence determine our holiness. Paul spoke of this in the New Testament.

That is why when people quote specific scripture, they miss the panoramic view of God's word. The take it out of context.

What Paul was saying was that if just following God's law could save us, Jesus wouldn't have had to die. The only requirement to being saved is belief in Jesus Christ.

But, that doesn't mean that we ignore God's commandments. We just have to realize that holy deeds alone won't save you. Only Jesus will.

He quoted the Old Testament frequently as a series of historical events (incluing Adam and Eve and the Flood) and as prophecies that pointed to him. He then said that he was going to fulfill of the laws (and the prophecies in it) which he did in his death and resurrection.

He never stated that we should "ignore the law", but that we should be looking to a higher law. That all of the OT laws were completed by simple bodying two laws - to love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus was a good Jewish boy. How do you think he felt about the OT?

As Christians, we are covered by the grace of God through the blood of Jesus Christ. The old laws don't apply, however, that doesn't mean we should "ignore" them.

Peace be with you.

OK, let's look at it. Jesus said in his sermon on the mount that he came to fulfill the law, and not to take it away. So what does that mean? It means that he loves the law (and, as a matter of biblical concepts, he was the only one who could keep clean by the laws), because it shows everyone why he needed to come and die, because we were in desperate need of Grace.

Jesus is the Word of Elohim. Elohim; the Father, Word & Holy Spirit. Yahweh Elohim; the Father, Word & Holy Spirit. So, as the Word of Elohim, Jesus is also the Word of the God of the Old Testament.

Jesus told us he never came to take away the law, but to fulfill it. We can fulfill the law by the love of God in our hearts, through faith in Jesus redeeming Grace.
