Yes, I do think that one, Great and powerful God created everything from the atoms in our cells to the universe. As a biology major I CAN NOT imagine all of these complex creations just poofing into reality from some spontaneous event. I do not believe that humans evolved from apes or monkeys. A powerful being must have created everything. What I don't know is where God comes from, and well that is a question we may find out at the end of time.

By the way I do not believe Jesus is God nor is he the son of God. For if he was God how did the creations BEFORE him come to be? And it just doesn't make sense that God would beget a child with a female human, why wouldn't he just create a Goddess, one equal or semi equal to him?!

I believe that there is some God but I don't believe that God created us!! As the mythology says God created first man & women and other is evolution. There is no evidence that He created us. We don't even now does He exist??!! On my opinion human needs something to believe in and God is the creation of that. Every single thing that doesn't have an explanation on this world we say that God did that or Mother Nature. So you know nobody can't say who made as and when are we going to disappear from this world [just like dinosaurs]. And this shouldn't be a faith debate like you're atheist or ext.

Humans were not 'created' as such. All living beings are the product of billions of years of natural processes, including information gain through natural selection.

You are twelve years old. It might be difficult for you to understand how evolution can work. There are still many adults grappling with the complexities of the history of the universe.

What they are doing is investigating how the universe works using scientific principles. The idea is to ask questions, to examine the evidence and to try and figure out how the universe really works.

To you, a twelve year old, the Internet probably seems rather normal. But, in fact, the Internet is one of many triumphs of science and engineering. If you take a careful look around you, you will probably be able to find other ways in which science has improved your life and the lives of others.

Okay, some serious misconceptions need to be righted here. Look, Atheists are not ignorant. Not even close. Atheists have read the peer-reviewed journals, and books, and all other literature pertaining to the creation of the universe and have come to a general agreement. God is unnecessary for a universe to exist. He could still be, and we're not denying that slight possibility, but there are thousands of other options that are more viable, and easier to disprove and prove. Look, I don't mind that you want believe blindly in the old testament account of Genesis, even though we have conclusively disproven that as even remotely being a possible depiction of the creation of the universe. That's fine. But don't sit there and believe blindly and claim that we're the ignorant ones. Blind belief means ignorance.
I don't mind not being able to change your mind about God, little one. This is a time for magic, for belief in higher magical things. This age. When you get a little older, you'll come around to seeing the sheer mind-boggling mechanics of the Christian/Islamic religious system and you'll jump on over the fence. There's still hope for you.
The simple fact of the matter, though, is that belief in this deity has slowed down progress to a mind-numbing halt a number of times throughout history. We as a society refuse to let it do that anymore, we absolutely must become technologically sufficient to tackle the problems besetting us. Global warming, for one. If it were up to most Christians, they would just say that "God will take care of it." We, the atheists and scientists have the burden of actually doing something about it. Christians make it difficult for us, by voting in people who share their "Let God fix it" mentality. But we soldier on, the true champions of justice, equality, and truth that we are.

I think you need to ask the question in a different way. I read this and my answer, being that you are 12, is, have you ever heard of sex. Man and woman, sperm, egg, 9 months, contractions, smack on the *** and whoa!! here I am. I know where I "poofed" out of. As far as GOD, well, I have heard my dad called alot of things, but GOD wasnt one of em.

my daughter just turned 12 too!

you have lots to learn about the world, and Yahoo Answers isn't the place to do that. At least not in the religion and spirituality section. these are just people's opinions on here, not necessarily facts, so you really can't trust what you read to be true.

good for you to stand up for what you believe in though!
my daughter does that too, although we're pagan, so we view things a little differently than you. and just so you know, there are many different religions out there, and just because they're different than yours, it doesn't mean they're bad. keep your mind open and be a good person

My parents created me.
I don't know what a realy one is and I don't have any desire to make you change your mind about anything. My gods are real. I'm sure you believe in your god for some good reason. I just don't care what the reason is.

go to this site, it deals with the basics of abiogenisis,( life from organic chemical compounds) and evolution. it's the Berkeley site and explains it very well. life never poofed out of nowhere, there's a good natural explanation. you don't even have to stop believing in god, many christians acccept evolution and read the bible as a morality story rather than the literal truth.
