It is like a husband telling his battered wife that she has "free will" to leave him; but he'll hunt her down and kill her if she does.

And yes, I'm purchasing this round.

There might be a 2.1.2 coming out soon.

I'm not Bill Gates, there's no reason to replace a good product with a bad one.

*gulp* good point!

You have the choices that are laid out before you..... one is good & the other is so bad that nobody in their right minds would choose it. That's not free will, that's manipulation through fear. Follow me or suffer!

Its not at all like that. God is the Father. He is like a father telling his child not to do bad things or he will be punished. The father knows the child is going to do wrong and will always forgive the child because he loves him. Even if the child grows old enough where he can choose to not have anything to do with the father (like choosing to have nothing to do with Jesus), forfitting his inheritance and any relationship that he might have been able to have, the father still loves the child and at any point the child will only have to come and asked for his fathers love and he will get it.

God The Father, give's us guidlines to live by and askes us to not do certain things for our own good. He knows we will always do wrong, and he has already forgiven us for those things. We have to choose to ignore him and if we do we know whats lies beyond.

Your mistake is in thinking that if we ignore him he comes and gets up and kills us and throws us in a fiery pit like the husband killing the wife. Not at all. We choose to jump into the fiery pit, he never forces us and wants nothing like that for us, and even when we jump he still loves us!

Because, it is obvious that the bible says God will "hunt you down and kill you". Read the book of Hosea in the bible, it tells the story of how God will continually let you go your road, but still take you back. Or, read the story of the prodigal son. Sounds to me like someone has fed you some junk that is theologically incorrect.

I'll take a fat tire if you are buying this round

No, it's not a joke. And it isn't like that analogy you gave at all. My God would never do anything like that, He's such a loving God. We have the decision to either stay with Him, or run away. Both have eternal results, though. However, many people have run away from God and continue to do so their entire lives, but God is the only one who can give a person peace.

It's a bigger joke that people consider "free will" a good thing.

"Free will is a gift from God," they claim. By whose authority? How is free will a gift?

If my 2-year-old nephew is playing in the front yard and walks towards the busy street, I am going to deny him his free will and haul his little butt closer to the house. If I allow him free will, he most likely will end up injured or killed by the traffic. What kind of uncle would I be if I allowed that to happen?

Yet, supposedly, God allows us the free will to walk into traffic even though he has the power to prevent such a horrible fate. Free will works both ways. God has the free will to not intervene with someone's salvation or lack thereof. He is just as responsible for allowing someone to go to Hell as the parent who allows his child to step into traffic.

JV - human logic doesn't work in the face of a Leprechaun either. That is why it is so frustrating trying to prove they don't exist to drunken irishmen. If human logic doesn't make sense, in the face of God, why even attempt thinking things through, like building shelter, medicine, food production etc.

Your willingness to throw your brain away is astounding.

There is hole in your logic. Your argument implies that following God is like being a wife beaten by her husband. Following God is nothing like that.

It is a joy for me to serve God. Following God is like obeying a perfect loving father. Everything God has ordered me not to do is for MY OWN GOOD. If I follow exactly what God says I should be much more happy than if I disobey him.

I can choose to disobey him but it will be only to my own detriment.

No, it's more like a father teaching his child, right from wrong and being a perfect example, then telling that child: "You can choose right or wrong, but remember with every choice there is a consequence.

You may think it's the Bible god's joke, but he was never amused by much of anything.

Just to let you know, he reads the questions on here; and if he doesn't like yours, it doesn't matter how much free will you got, you're going to Hell, where you will burn and rot forever.

Oh and one other thing, everyone in Hell has worms. I'm also told they itch and can't scratch cause their arms are too short, and they poop and can't wipe --
Am I boring you?

And he gives you the free will to talk hateful stuff the way you do. But he still loves you and wants you to find what true love is.
