Many innocent people end up in jail. Hence the Innocence Project. Without proof of the set up, then yes, you can go to jail.

Consult a defense lawyer a good one, be honest with cops and tell the truth. If you lie you might dig yourself in a deeper hole. Besides it will help them solve it more quickly and they will take that into consideration.
