i know bartenders are usually sleezy men who get a lot of phone numbers and their job is to flirt and be friendly for tips.

Bartenders get tips based on providing the service of mixing your drinks. A bartender is just another job in the restraunt/food industry. Why do you have to stereotype them as sleazy? Waiters and waitresses receive tips also, but no one would say that they have to be flirtatious to get them (friendly, yes - flirtatious, no).

So, to answer your question, if he calls you or wants to see you when he is not working, then he probably has a serious interest, BUT since you have such a low opinion of bartenders in general, why would you want to date one? What if you got together with him? Would you trust him at work when your image of his job is that he has to flirt with the customers, and that women are stuffing phone numbers in his pockets by the hand full? Just something to think about.

If he calls you more than once probably .. for some reason women are attracted to bartenders I can't for the life of me see why ..it sure isn't exactly a career with a future ..on my list of great jobs it ranks just above Walmart greeter ...
Its great until you get a real job I guess...
if you did go out with such a person you'd always be wondering who was next and soon he will be telling you to not come in there and make up excuses as to why not ..
I guess though there is a chance that you would be his one and only .. not all men fool around you know ... but the ones that don't are not in the lime light
there at home or out with their girl friends so you don't see them ...

excuse me but I was a "social chemist" (bartender)
I treated all with respect-except for one girl-who I eventually married 20 years ago-there are always jerks every where-don't put us all in one class

Ya that is part of the job. Give him your number, if he doesnt call, he is not interested. Just let him pursue you ( outside of the bar ) Its the only way you will know if he is interested or not. Dont chase him or take it personally if he was only "working". blessings.
