I was eating at a Pizza Hut.
The waitress and I seemed to hit it off well. Very well! I almost considered us friends.
She told me all about her children and how they don't care what money they get from her, they just get excited when she gives them pennies, nickles, dimes, etc.
She made me feel so good after talking to while I ate, I left her a $5 tip.
I went to the cashier to pay my bill.
My change came up to about 17cents. I said to the cashier, "Give the change to the waitress." (I was only thinking about her giving the coins to her children. I wasn't trying to be rude, I had $5 laying on the table for her.)
The waitress said, "Why don't you take that 17cents and shove it up your ***?"
I said, "OK. I will. I will take that 17cents and shove it up my ***, and while I'm at it..." (I walked to the table, picked up the $5 bill, showed it to her, and said), "..I'll take this $5 bill and I'll shove it up my *** too."
Because she was so nasty to me, she lost out on a decent tip.
(Of course I didn't shove any money anywhere except back in my pocket. I was just trying to prove a point to her.)
You're not a bad tipper at all. You're a good tipper. I tip bartenders or barmaids NOTHING.
They're lucky I even frequent their establishment to keep them in business.
You are a saint compared to me.

No, i considered you rather generous. people forget what tipping is all about; is not an obligation, but a gesture of a job well done. I used to be a waitress in the 60's at the Fiermont hotel in San Francisco; they automatically included the tip
if there were 10 or more ; i thought that was kind of rude, but they did it anyway; there are restaurants that include 20% .
a waitress got 2 pennies after serving a party of 4; she knew what they were doing; so, she followed the customers to the exit and said; you forgot 2 pennies and handed them the 2 pennies; the man said; that is your tip and her reply was; no, SR." you need it more that i do"! leaving 2 pennies is slapped on the face in the
world of a waitress; but never the less , i thought she
had lots of guts to do something like that. In the restaurant business they make it an obligation to tip; but i disagree then and now; i think if you get good service you get a good tip.
you're a good tipper.

The answer to your question is No. Guys don't give girls gifts (until after sex, birthday, or valentines) unless they're very insecure in the own value as a person. The way I think of it, if I'm a great guy, and the woman I'm with is having fun. Giving a gift is just a waste of money, and totally unecessary. If I were an a insecure man, and the chemistry is one sided. I'd give a gift to maybe hopefully tip the scales for her to stay with me. Deep down it's psychologically making the girl feel obligated. Only guys /w money and not alot of confidence in themselves as a person give women gifts outside of special occations. Now on the subject of tipping. Well, that guy is being DAMN CHEAP. On a date (or brining other people out), I want things to go well, and treating the server well really helps. We have to realize that these people make less than us (assuming you and the guys you date are pretty well off). That extra $10 for the check means more to them than it does for us, and the weath we make as well as the comforts we have is ultimately derived from the working class.

You're better than the average tipper. I'll usually tip the barkeep a few bucks when I finish drinking, but never by the drink. As for your other examples, they usually only get $1-3, and I don't tip the carwash guy.

regarding the bar...sounds just fine.
the car wash....was is manual or automatic?? if its automatic and the person you tipped is the drying person at the end, then you did fine. If its manual, maybe something more like 5 dollars would be better (if they did a great job).
the she shinning tip....1 dollar out of 5 is 20%. thats an awesome tip.
all in all, i think youre a decent tipper. pretty average. nothing too high and fancy and nothing too low and rude.

No actually, you over tip. The standard gratuity is 15%. On a 14 dollar haircut, that would be 2.10, i would round to 2 dollars, 15 dollars is just way out of line...that's more than the haircut. For the 13 dollar car wash 15% would be 1.95, One dollar for each beer is too high too, when I tip at a bar I tip once at the end of the evening and yes, it's 15%. Hope this helps you, oh also, at Christmas it is traditional to tip people...your doorman, dry cleaner etc.

No, you actually over-tip. The usual tip for services rendered is 15-20% and for drinks at a bar it's 50 cents per drink unless you are having only 1, then $1.00 is normal. When people under-tip they are considered to be cheap, when they over-tip, more often than not, they are considered ignorant. It seems that with some people you can't win, eh?

No not at all. Maybe just a little paranoid. People in the industry don't get tips from lots and then there's the ones that tip a quarter per drink. It's people like you that make up for the others.

Absolutelty not!!! You are a great tipper.
Tips stands for: To Insure Proper Service. As long as you reward service accordingly i.e. good tips for good service, bad tips for bad service then you are completing the circle so to speak.
My great uncle was very successful in the real estate market. His worth was in the tens of millions and during his 50th wedding anniversary party he was going to stiff a waitress who served our family and friends for three hours, over 75 guests. My grandpa intervened with a $200 tip even though it wasn't his party. My grandpa was a good tipper, my uncle died rich but never got what life was really about. Life is a bout giving not taking. Keep doing what you are doing.

You are over-tipping. Very good service is 15% - if it's just fair, the tip should be around 12%. For shoes, hair, car wash, it's 10%. You probably got looks because they didn't expect you to be so rich you could throw your money away.
