Ok, yesterday around 3:30pm, I took some thick pork chops with the bones in them out of the freezer and put into the sink to defrost. We left the house and came back at 7pm and decided we didnt want to cook it. So, I put them into the fridge, (still had a bit of ice) and this morning I cleaned them, browned them and put them into a slow cooker. Do u think the meat is safe to eat? why or why not?

I would think they are more then fine. If I forget to take something out to defrost i the fridge the night before (which is almost every day!) I will take the meat out in the morning and put it in the sink to 'jump start' the defrosting and if it defrosts before dinner time, I put it in the fridge until I cook the meat.

My best guess is "iffy". You did the right thing by thawing in cold water and the frozen chops probably kept the water temp down. Technically you should change the water bath every half an hour though. But it was only 3.5 hours, and the chops weren't in the danger zone (4 hours) until they went over 40F. And you did the right thing by putting them right back. So personally, I'd eat them. Just cook them well!

Pu them into the sink? Now thats not very hygenic now is it ? You have to defrost things though i suppose but defrosting food passes them through the danger zone where bacteria is most likely to multiply and lead to food poisoning. Personally i wouldnt eat them after all the things you put them through (no affense) they probably would be safe but i wouldnt chance it. But if you are going to eat them make sure you cook them thoroughly and make sure they are piping hot throughout *(technically 70c at centre of food)*

Good Luck x

Yes, they are safe, the only time they would not be is if they were left for a long period of time when the weather was hot, being how it still had ice on them indicates they were still partially frozen. Eat and enjoy!!
