Yes it has. People in 1940 would die from infections, we now survive. The discovery of penicillin was one of the most important, and that it is very cheap now.

It also means we know about more illnesses, and conditions, and that means that we need to do more tests to find these. Diabetes for example, can be diagnosed with a urine test, blood test or glucose test (ingest glucose and have bloodtests every half hour for 2 hours).

Most doctors do all three.

YES MEDICINE HAS COME A LONG WAY IN THE LAST 20YES.i don;t have very good insurance and when i go to the hosp for important tests lots of times they tell me 'your insurance won;t cover it or they say we find nothing wrong with you.do this or do that.,.if i had good insurance i would of been well and living a pain free life,., I'M STILL WORKING ON GETTING WELL 1 way or another,.,., lol

They see many patients, and have no patience left. They are a bit overwhelmed with guidelines and restrictions and the consequences of any mistakes they will be responsible for. And the symptoms people have are very common and could fall under more than one diagnosis, so it is difficult to always know for sure. Lastly, there are many people who are looking for medication from their tendency to self-diagnose. It's not easy to be a physician, it takes a great deal of patience and dedication, not every one takes their Hippocratic Oath seriously.

Yes. Malpractice insurance is expensive. Now doctors test for everything, just to be sure.
