They take both sides. Military background, but they are really big on having a degree. I also know the hiring process takes awhile. You might turn in an application and 6 months later they call you.

Typical candidates for the CIA have an Academic background. Although the CIA are glamorised in films and on TV the are purely an Intelligence gathering agency like the NSA. Most people that work for the CIA spend there days sitting at a computer desk inputting data all day. Sound like fun doesn't it.

You do not have to have a military background at all. They want you to have smarts though so academically speaking you would need to have a good education. The better your education the better your chances of becoming a potential canidate.
Oh yeah and you must be willing to live the most private life ever, not telling anyone about your work.

You need a college education but not military experience. They do some pretty serious background checks and if you meet their qualifications they can offer you a position.

Military is helpful but they are looking for "brains" to brawn. Go get a degree in geography or anything involving remote sensing or photo interpretation and you shouldn't have a problem. Or become fluent in a foreign language and become a spy!

It's hard but not impossible..
People with at least a Bachelors degree and proficiency in a second language have the best chance at getting hired in the CIA.

What you heard with regard to the SEALS is merely the top of the iceberg. All authentic. What you do no longer understand is: with the intention to have SEAL coaching, you may desire to be on energetic accountability interior the army. you may desire to have an exemplary checklist on your centred job overall performance. you may desire to coach a want for re-enlistment with an emphasis on a army occupation. and you may desire to request this coaching and be stated for this coaching by using your commanding officer. and that's merely the real tip of the iceberg. Accomplish all that, and then the coaching starts off. And the coaching is a 'doozie'. You eat, drink, sleep, SEAL coaching college. No breaks, no time offs, no no longer something. merely coaching, extra coaching, and extremely coaching. Day in and holiday. And their coaching isn't any comedian tale. 60% of all trainees 'wash out' way in the previous commencement. No shame in that. it is not cut back out for anyone. as quickly as you finished your coaching, the real attempt happens. it incredibly is once you and a few of your fellow trainees pass on war video games with performed SEALs. And it is the performed SEALS who come to a determination in the event that they might settle for you into their international of war. without their suggestion and acceptance, you're nonetheless nowhere. to those who aspire to this form of army existence, all of it sounds wonderful. maybe that's. yet undergo in recommendations, Glory is fleeting. And blood and guts is the real barometer. And God bless one and all of them.

I don't think it would be that hard.
Try logging-on to their website to see if they post avaliable positions in their 'careers' section.
The website should also list the basic qualifications for becoming an agent.
Going further, I'm sure you'd have to pass extensive background screeenings, etc; piece-of-cake...if you've kept your nose clean down through the years!
Go for it...AND...God bless you on your quest!
