Princ, yes they do get periods, (if u want to call it that) however, it is right be4 they go into heat. There r pads that u can purchase so that way there is not a mess. It only last a few days. This is just a suggestion, if you do not have plans on mating her I would have her spayed due to the over population w/animals.

Yes - the correct name is HEAT CYCLE. She must be a puppy still. A female puppy has her first heat anywhere from 6 - 12 months old. Then after that, it is every 6 months. You can have her spayed (fixed) once she has finished having her heat cycle. Dogs first come into heat at about 9 months of age & will cycle every 6 months.

Get your little dog spayed and you won't have to worry that she may get pregnant. It is best for your puppy in the long run and you won't be contributation to the over population of dogs. Millions are euthanized each year cause of back yard breeders. I am sure that you would hate to hear that some of the puppies you sold or gave away was euthanized. That would break your heart. or if one or two got run over & killed.

Get her spayed as soon as you can, before her first heat if possible. She will be a healthier dog for it.

I get all of my dogs & cat spayed/neutered at about 4 months of age. Get it over with early, while still a pup. I do not want someone pointing their finger at me and say, "There goes a damned back yard breeder."

A dog's "period" is not the same as a human period. When humans have periods, they are shedding the uterine lining. When dogs have "periods" they are simply bleeding in response to high amounts of estrogen.

In a basic way I guess they do. They come into season, or go into heat, and this is when they can become pregnant.
