It's their choice about what they do to their bodies..It's pretty much the same as smoking, driving too fast, drinking...but everyone doesn't criticize these people...Everyone needs to leave the poor models alone they are just trying to make a living....O.K. Now what do you think about what I just said..I may not beleive this but I'm writing a paper and I need some responses.

because people get offended that they don't look that way. And people that don't have enough common sense or self esteem get depressed about it.

I agree that it's ridiculous how they're handling it. It's been that way for years. People just need to be comfortable in their own skin and let it go.

And may I suggest that PARENTS actually raise their children so they have their own sense of identity instead of turning to a DKNY ad for how they're suppose to be and look.

Never once in my life did I look up to a model and wonder why I didn't look like that. Never once. I'm absolutely comfortable with myself. Although, I was never overweight so I can't see it from that side.

I will take a crack at this and try to help you with your paper. Here is how I see it. I think they are getting so much bad media these days for the same reason Brittney Spears did, they like it or not are the individuals our younger and much more impressionable teen girls are emulating. Now lets say you have a 10 year old daughter who is not exactly thin just healthy, but in her and her friends eyes these girls are the standard in which all women are to be judged from. Now you have a 10 year old thinking she has to look like that to be accepted by her friends and boys. Because she is not naturally thin, she does what so many like her do to achieve this unrealistic goal, they purge, and possible become anorexic. There own personal body image is now distorted and many not all but many will carry that morphed image all of their adult life. I applaud the new dove campaign for what they are trying to do by using real women in the ads, its time the buying public stood up and said, maybe I am not a size 5 but that doesn't mean I am not good enough. Do you know that during the Renaissance period the standard for women was robust, a thin woman would have been what heavier woman are now. I am not suggesting we go to that, I would just be happy is they used more normal people in ads, I think it would help everyone to feel bettr about them themselves.

Because people seem to feel a need for role models, and it's felt that models hold an unachievable standard over young girl's heads. I think it's rubbish- people have to set their own standards, and live their lives based on what's best for themselves, and not try to follow in some celebrity's shoes.
BUT, if anyone is to be held accountable, it should be the clothes designers, not the models. If the designers make clothes for size 2's instead of size 12's, then it's time for that to change, since most people are not size 2 and never will be (if they are past the age of 6!)

I will leave skinny models alone. However, skinny people need to leave those of us who are not skinny alone. As you say, what we do with our bodies is our business. If someone is otherwise healthy a few extra pounds or a few less pounds won't hurt them. It is sad when people are hurting their health, but that is their business.

A lot has been said about these models being bad examples to children and teens. That is the parents responsibility to let their children know that this is NOT the norm and that they need to accept themselves.

These models are the epitome of the standard of beauty that society holds everyone to. Basically, if you're not tall and skinny like models are, you're ugly. Being toothpick skinny is not attractive, nor is it healthy, but that's how everyone's supposed to look according to beauty standards. Girls are starving themselves so they can be toothpick skinny like models are. It's not right, and it needs to stop.

Of course they're trying to make a living. They're not being criticized for that.

i dont think that they should leave them alone. when you have young girls who are looking at models in fashon magazines or what have you, and the girl seens a super thin model it changes how they feel about their own bodies. seeing a thin model gives young girls the wrong idel. they will think, it shtat how i am suppost to look? or am i fat? there is such an influence that can take over a young girl, and all super skinny models do is feed into that. i think that it is very dangerious and there should be a certain weight that they must keep. i know that it might sound crazy, but it can affect a girl really bad.

It's like this: They took smoking and drinking off TV and out of movies because it sets a bad example for children. So....Why should we allow models who weigh 90 pounds and throw up everything they eat to be influencing our children?

Hello, people don't critize smokers? Do you know how many places have SMOKING bans????? How many places DON'T serve alcohol because of public pressure? I don't know of any that have skinny model puking bans!!!!

I do. I don't like girls who are built like 13 year old boys, and look like they've been on a 4 day bender.

I BELIEVE IT'S NOT ABOUT BEING SKINNY IT'S ABOUT BEING HEALTHLY AND NOT KILLING YOURSELF TO LOOK LIKE A BARBIE. IT'S AN ISSUE WHEN YOU HAVE 20 YEAR DIE FROM ANEROXIA, OR BULIMIA. I DON'T WANT TO SOUND HARSH BUT COME ON IF YOU CAN SEE YOUR RIB CAGE SOMETHING IS WRONG. EATING DISORDERS IS THE REAL PROBLEM.
