A question about the Indians that Live and work in the Middle East.?

I have heard many stories that the Indians that go to live and work in the Middle East are treated very badly, completely disrespected and Looked down upon. They are looked down upon because of their religion, their dark skin colour, the mediocre jobs that they are employed in, and the fact that they are from a country that has high poverty etc. The states include UAE, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, etc.

Is this true?

If so why, then, do so many Indians choose to go and live in Arab states???

Do you agree that the Indian government should curtail Indian migration towards Muslim states and encourage Indian migration towards different countries that are more civilised and sophisticated and ones that will not treat Indians like they are sub-human tramps???

By 2020 India will surpass China and by 2050 India will surpass the USA. Whereas at that same time, the oil in the middle east shall have been been long depleted and gulf states shall have nothing else to keep their economy going. They shall start to slide down the list.

Who the hell gives those fat arabs the right to treat other people with disdain???

Indians should be completely ashamed of themselves, allowing their fellow hindu brethren to go to arab states and humiliate themselves in the eyes of the world by working as cleaners and cooks for muslim people. Shame on Indian people. There are so many wealthy Indians in the world that if they all wanted, they could invest in more than enough jobs in India thus Indians would not need to go to the backward hell hole middle east. Indians just don't give a damn about each other.

Yes this is true... Indians are treated like rags in ME. Even doctors, professors, and software engineers are treated as 2nd class citizens.. what to talk of labourers and servants ...however some countries dont treat them as badly for example Dubai, Iran, Bahrain. The worst are Kuwait, Saudi, and Libya ( I hv been to all of them except Saudi)

I remember once an educated Arab asked me If we have cars in India !!! Many ask me if India is so great what Indians are doing here ?

Why they do it : They are still in clan mentality... anything outside their clan is bad ! (exception...they are afraid of whites ...LOL)

Why I am here ? well mine is a transferrable job..so after France, UK, I landed here...and thank God in 6 months i will leave this horrible place...and i am in such a position that they cant afford to hate me (on face at least!!...LOL)

No it's not true., i am based in Saudi Arabia since long time. I never had any incident nor i came across any incident though i am a Hindu. We are indians and we do respect other religions. That's what good about Indians and we can live/survive anywhere in the world peacfully. The General people are good accept few double faced. That's in every society.

It is partly true. Not all Indians are treated like that,
atleast those who have self-respect would not
tolerate this kind of treatment.
Then there are villagers, the vote bank of India.
Poor souls cleans the streets of the Arab world and are employed in unskilled labor categories. Indians, Bangladesi, even Srilankans are employed by the Municipal admistration because they pay them less compared to other nationals.
Minimum wage is remote word in these Arab nations.
Even if it is there it is not implemented.
People have access to Indian passports in the streets
of Dubai. The passport are either sold by the Agents or
the holders as they are poor and have to send money
back home.
The one nation which tops the list is Saudi Arabia
The pay highest salary for the American Citizen and Saudis
Next comes the British, European and all white skin people.
Then in the third caterory comes the other Arab nationals
like the Egyptians, Lebanese, etc.
Fourth comes the Indians, Pakistanis, Phillipinos, Srilankans and Yemanis
In the fifth place comes the Bangladesis, Thai, etc
Saudi Arabia does not issue a family visa to a lawfully married muslim men who are working there and who are
from the so called third poor nation.
BUT the same Saudis issue a visa for an American citizen's
girlfriend. It may sound strange but its true.
Even the pet dogs of the American citizens can enter Saudi Arabia
but not the lawfully wedded wifes of the poor nation people.
As the saying goes "let the sleeping dog sleep"

From what I hear, there are many indians in the countries you listed above and they are not treated badly so dont make a generalized statement please. Arabs are very arrogant people and they do think that they are superior to even other muslims so dont make this a racial issue. It happens to many races and in many countries. Some Americans are just as racist and arrogant as the Arabs but I wont generalize because I've been living in USA for 16+ years and i haven't had a problem but I know people who do have problems...so u can never say.

wat ur concern is absolutely rite...bcoz i m personally experiencing it right now...one thing is tht these middle east countries are muslim countries and there is distinction for indians mostly hindus...i hav felt tht...if u r a muslim indian u can get some consideration...but actually the arabs reached this position in the recent years due to the money inflow from oil....the americans want the oil and they r lurin thse arabs wit money...dollars and women...etc...previously arab country was a domain of english people but now...they r allowin indians to work more than english bcoz they can get the work done by payin much less money...compared to english...so they r allowin us...but the situation is the same they view us as some xternal men...i should hav worked in india...bcoz as i myself isa true patriot...but the system...mostly the administration and politics hav mad india a worst place to live...wen u get good money and security of life than india u would definitely prefer stayin in middle east...so thts why i m also bendin infront of these fools just to get some money and to stay alive...thts all...nothin more....

I am working in the Middle East as Engineer for more than 5 years. Every where people who work in low categories like City Cleaning etc are not looked upon equally with others. Even in India till today in some remote areas low caste people are treated badly. As far as middle east is concerned our people are also to be blamed equally. Most of the times it is one Indian who initiates trouble against another for his own selfish reasons. He uses his influence with the local bosses against fellow Indians. Always rich people who has huge wealth are bound to act with a upper handedness. Arabs are not exception to that human phenomena. No world religion asks its followers to do this discrimination. So Arabs who claim to be followers of Islam is also not doing it correctly.
A small percentage of Indians are also employed in high paid jobs in the Middle East. Reason is they have the correct education and experience which is not available here. Indian govt can educate and stop our people from coming to Middle east without any education & experience. Already there is a tremendous shift in the people coming for the low category jobs. Now almost 90% are from Nepal, Sri Lanka & african nations.

well its not only indians but ne dark skinned human thats treated badly every where in the world...its not only the arabs its everybody..thats the case in usa, london, canada everywhere.......but u cant make a generalised statement......cuz there are racist pple but not everyone's like that...i think wat u jst said is more common in countries which have pale skinned pple...but again it depends.. n no country is sophisticated...that aint true if pple wanna treat u badly they can do it anywhere...n weather u du it crudely or in a sophisticated way it dusnt matter the impact is the same...india itself has so many muslims who stay without any problems n wen we go to a muslim dominated country i dont think that we'll be treated very badly...diff pple have diff. experiences...so curtailing our entry to muslim countries aint a gr8 idea...but i do agree that probably these states might b more rigid but then this kind of treatment exists everywhere its just how u deal with it

some of them are working on military bases and dont interact with middleeasterners as much as they do americans. the ones i met and there were quite a few, seemed to be doing well. but as far as indians in middle east, did you know most muslims are indonesian and not middle eastern?

No. That's not why they are looked down upon at all. I Live in the Middle East myself in a Muslim country that is 70% Indians and only 30% local. In this particular country there is much animosity for the indians because they occupy the entire work force of the country. The Indians come here, get paid thousands of dollars, get a house and education for their kids plus transportation and whatever else his heart desires. the local although gets nothing. and makes less that 500 dollars a month to support his family here. This is why Indians are discriminated againts in this country. I know of another MIddle Eastern country that has a limit on how many Indians are allowed in each year, they do this to ensure that every single one of their citizens are taken care of before the foreigners...
Hey, I'm sure if your government wanted to do that there would be no complaining over here. Just read any of the countries news papers and see how the locals like you...

You are vry confused my friend...You have no idea how the Indians are treated here. On many occasions the Indians have told me that they can go home and feed their family for a week on less than 5 dollars. On average each Indian is paid at least 500 dollars PLUS accomodation, and a ticket home each year. Now, with 500 dollars in India you can buy a mansion! The Indians confess that with what they make here they go back to India and can retire buy a house and land and put their children through an excelent school. Now, there is not one Indian that is getting paid poorly. You don't know because you don't live here. My Husband and his Mother and His Sister all work in different companies and in each one an Indian is the Manager of the whole company. If you are an Indian and you have an education you will become something over here. If you don't have an education you will still go back home with PLENTY of money to satisfy yourself and your family....

Oh my God! You are one mis-informed (or should one say a michievous) guy, who, I don't know from where, gets these crazy ideas. Indians hold a lot of High Posts in the Gulf Countries. ( More then the Pakistanis) And they are respected and treated very well.
