I'm not christian, but here's what I think.

You live your life, not really thinking a whole lot. Some people think but many don't. Just living life, not thinking about your actions or the consequences. You do some crappy things, maybe you feel bad, maybe you don't think about it at all. Maybe you're not happy, most aren't.You feel jealousy, resentment, hatred, various bed feelings and thoughts. Then one day you are told, and realize this is the truth, that every single person in the world feels pretty much the same things as you. We all do bad things.Doesn't matter, we can start fresh. We are still loved.Material things are not important. We don't need stuff, well, not alot of stuff anyway-to be happy. We can change and have better lives, everyone has problems, everyone can love and help each other, because really, that's all that is important.Start fresh, change yourself, help others. I'm sorry, I am not very good at explaining this. But that's what I think being saved means. Realizing we can change. Be better people. More caring, and happier.

Salvation from being a person who never donates money to the church of course. Why? So the religious leaders can drive around in big suv's and live in mansions, why else?

We are born sinners thanks to the sin of Adam and Eve.We all sin."The wages of sin are death but the gift of God is "salvation'' through his Son ,Jesus Christ."
Jesus came and volunteered to be the final sacrifice for sin,for us.Only the sinless can die for the sinful. That is why the Old Testament taught that the" lamb must be perfect without spot or blemish."
He died so we won't have to (spiritually ,that is)now we can live forever. When we die ,we drop our body like an old jacket and move on.

Sin - the absence of God; the eternal death.

All have sinned (disobeyed God's will, intents, commandments, etc) and have fallen short of the glory of God. The punishment for sin is death. God is the Supreme and Righteous Judge of the Universe - we all deserve to die and shall die apart from Him, thus being cast into hell.

However, Jesus died in our place that we might have the chance of having a relationship with God. For when God looks at true believers (born-again Christians), He sees the purity of Jesus instead of our filthy ways.

From yourself and the sins you have commited. Ever lie in any form? Steal? etc? Do it just 1 time and you are not what you are supposed to be and are sentenced to hell. God didn't want that, so He sent His only son to take the place of us all, only a perfect sacrifice was good enough to atone for us. He bridged the gap and let us be forgiven for what we have done.

Saved from the proper verdict that is imposed over sin
which is death:
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

From death. Salvation promises an eternal life. Your body will fail, but your spirit will live on.
