This is a movie i watched but LOVED the message.. Pay it Forward. When someone does something for you that you know was hard to do... like say sorry, giving when they are hurting financially, helping somone on the street. Putting someone before your own needs..... never take a pay back from them, or even a thank you... ask them to Pay it foward to others so more good can be done in the world. If you have ever done this, or will in the future.. please let us know what good you did with the 'PAY IT FOWARD" words in question box. I think it will lift some hearts.
I stopped to help a woman that was out of gas. Dangerous I know, but I couldnt just let her stay stranded and the gas staion was just around the corner. Her name was Pam and she tried to give me money for the help... i just said Pay it foward to someone else.. i felt great the rest of the day.

I don't understand why some of you have a hard time seeing that this is about doing GOOD for others.. not getting praise for what you did

There's also a book the movie was based on. I thought the "pay it forward" actions described in the movie were more than just random acts of kindness. They seem to involve more 'righting a personal wrong'.

Yes I would be able to pay it forward. I have spent the last 2 weeks going through what I own and give out what I can to families who have nothing for Christmas. So many children without a present under the tree and not enough donations coming in. It is a wonderful feeling to give something to someone you know really needs it and you just know they appreciate your help. $500 could really help someone have a great Christmas. They could buy some food and may a present or two and maybe pay that electric bill that is about to get shutoff. I don't know a specific person because i know so many that need the extra help this year. I would hope to do many things to benefit others before my death. I try to do what I can including donating toys or whatever else I can to people who need them.

Thank you for paying it forward. What a wonderful thing.
I watched the movie and really enjoyed it. Such a touching story.
I have paid it forward many times and hope to keep doing so. I like to help people any time I can.
Here are some examples of what I have done -
I bought Christmas gifts and food for a family who was down on their luck. (anonymously) They had 2 young kids and no money because the dad was laid off.
I headed up a donation drive for a family who's house burned to the ground. They had kids in school who needed clothing, school supplies, etc. They lost everything except for the clothes on their backs.
I donate alot of my time and labor to the band boosters organization at my daughter's high school. The band gets zero funding from the state or county. We raise money to buy musical instruments for kids who couldn't otherwise have one and get to be in the band. Also, if someone cant afford to pay their semester school fees we help out with that with the money we raise from carwashes, etc.
I dont have a limit on my "paying it forward". I always look for ways to do this. It doesn't matter if it is something big or small. Sometimes it does not require alot to really help someone or change their life.
I wish this movement would become more popular. The world would be a much better place.

In college, my freshman year seminar dealt with the pay it foward concept. I loved it. We adopted a family for christmas and bought them food, clothes, and presents.

Taking credit for giving Pam gas defeats the purpose of paying it forward. To truly get the message, you shouldn't trumpet what you've done.
Added: Do the good things just for the sake of doing them. By giving your example, you gave yourself credit and glory. That negates the good you did. Like it or not, that's the truth.

I think of it as something as simple as slowing down to allow someone in my lane on the expressway. Courtesy is often repaid.

Sorry, I think it's a sad concept. I do good, because that's the human thing to do. If I receive good, it feels awesome knowing it came from their hearts. It would feel weird if it came from somebody who simple re-paid somebody else a favor.
And btw: "I stopped to help a woman that was out of gas. Dangerous I know.." Where do you live? It's dangerous to help somebody who's out of gas? Your society must be truly awful to live in...
