A "Harley" is pretty tacky.
Throw in the fact he doesn't even own one, and man, tacky city.
Tell him that if you have a boy he can throw a Harley themed birthday party.

Orange and black sounds more Halloween than Harley. What about going with the white and silver and having little white and silver Harley’s mixed into the center pieces? Plus have a full on Harley groom’s cake.
You’re going to be looking back on your wedding photos for the rest of your life. Don’t do something that is not true to your self as a couple.

I agree that the Harley grooms cake is a must. I wouldnt try to mix orange and wine at all. Black, white and silver sounds gorgeous. Maybe tuck a cute little Harley into your wedding buquet ( cant spell ) just for laughs. Let him wear Harley boxers under his tux and have someone remove them a la bridal garter style or something at the reception. Lol. I dont know, have fun. :)

Well, your girls can wear black dresses with orange accents and you guys can carry orange flowers. Your centerpieces can be orange flowers in tall silver vases (for the chrome of the bike) and you can wear a white wine colored gown instead of true white. All the colors you like will work nicely together because they can all be found on the bike so they will carry the theme. I wouldnt go too overboard with the "Harley" thing, its not very wedding-y, but the colors can all work nicely. To really tie in the theme of the bike have your Grooms Cake carry that theme, they can do awesome grooms cakes now a days, so really the sky would be the limit and you can display that cake in a prominent location so peole will see it.
Hope this helps.
Good luck

Here's an idea: How about you plan a wedding shower of some sort with a Harley theme before the wedding. This way he will get it out of his system. You may also want to point out to him that black and orange will look like halloween instead of a wedding.

You can use all of your ideas...think of it as melding your personalites much as you will do in everyday life after your wedding. I think it is good of you to include your fiance in planning that is so often taken over by the bride. You can choose a classic dress that you like and your own bouquet can be the white/wine white you like tied with a silver ribbon (bikes do have lots of chrome on them, you know). Your bridesmaids can wear black dresses with an orange sash and carry a mixed bouqet of white and orange flowers tied with an orange ribbon. Your maid of honor could even wear white if you wanted. Alternate table clothes with the wine white you like and black. Black plates on white tables and white plates on black tables. Or use white table clothes with black runners. Use silver candlesticks with orange candles as centerpieces. It will look really beautiful and sophisticated while still incorporating the colors he likes. The grooms cake should definitely have the Harley logo and be dark chocolate. The main cake table can be for a cake you like and have all the white and silver accents you can dream of. Let his ideas in, but don't let it ruin the main idea which is getting married, not riding a motorcycle. Keep your invitations and programs to black and silver so they help to meld the two themes together. You can really make this work and look great. If you like my ideas and need more help, feel free to e-mail me at orangeflameninja@yahoo.com I would love to plan some weddings in hopes of one day going into business for myself as a wedding planner.

That was all one sentence? Cripes.
Anyway, you need to reach a compromise on the colors, first of all. Either decide on one of those color schemes or pick something else altogether. Marriage is about compromise, so sit down with him and hash something out that you both like.
I've seen planning photos of an orange and black wedding that looks like it'll be quite classy. The couple likes the Cincinnatti Bengals, so they developed the color scheme around that. The bridesmaids are wearing black dresses and orange gerbera daisies are the sole flower in the bouquets and centerpieces. White will be used as an accent color where necessary (dress, cake, linens).
Any color scheme can look stupid if you overdo it.

I think you should do the wedding in the style you want and do the reception in the style he wants. The reason I say that is because most weddings are more formal than the reception that follows. You should look into renting your husband a Harley at least for the day of the wedding, maybe he could show up to the wedding on it and the two of you could leave the reception on it.

I guess I would think that having a Harley theme wedding would be neat...IF you actually had a Harley and rode. Can you have black, orange and silver for the colors, but no theme? Black tuxes with orange vests, orange or silver dresses for the girls, and mix boquets with orange and white flowers with stems wrapped in black ribbon with silver buttons to close it? This way you can use orange flowers for centerpieces, silver candlesticks, etc. He can have "his color", but no theme. I have seen BEAUTIFUL deep-orange dresses worn by many bridesmaids...sounds bad, but give it a shot and look. Congratulations and good luck!

You could compromise and have like the rehearsal dinner themed Harley style. Where i live theres a Harley Davidson Restaurant. That wouldn't be bad. Then you could have your white and silver wedding. Maybe get him a motorcycle shape cake for his grooms cake?

Everyone is going to think you're having a Halloween wedding. Having a Harley wedding when you don't even own a Harley or participate in the lifestyle is just ridiculous.
