i usually book my flight tickets through agents or physically at the airlines counter. but this time, i want to book online, coz its cheaper. i read that i will be issued an e-ticket and not a paper ticket. is it a safe option? this whole e-ticket thing is like so bizarre.

E-tickets are completely safe. I've traveled at least 20 times using E-tickets. It's more convenient also.

e-tickets are really the best way to go. I fly close to 100 times a year and always book air travel online (through the airline's website) so I've had several hundred e-tickets over the past few years. Whenever you book air travel online, many domestic flights don't even offer the option of getting paper tickets for booking online or if they do, then you have to pay a fee which is in the range of $25 and completely not worth it. They will e-mail you an itinerary and everything when you book online, and you can print that out and bring it with you (you don't even have to do that but it's not a bad idea to bring a copy). But to answer your question - yes, e-tickets are safe and almost every ticket these days, especially for domestic flights, is an e-ticket. I've never had a problem with one ever in the several hundred times I've used them.

I didn't know they still did paper tickets...of course, I've been buying tickets, both directly from airlines or via an online seller (orbitz, travelocity, expedia, etc.) for years.

It's definitely safe, easy, and less expensive. It used to be great because you didn't have to go to the ticket counter at all you went straight to the gates, but with airport security being what it is, things change seems almost daily.

I've been using e-tickets for every flight (several of them) I've taken for the past few years, now. I've never had a problem.

You just show up at the counter with your picture ID -- the 'ticket' is in the computer. They issue you a boarding pass and you are on your way!

I've been using e-tickets since they came out... what was that, seven years ago? I've never had a problem. So far this year I've flown over 40 flights, and did at least that many last year.

LOVE the e-ticket. I've used it many times for airlines, trains, buses. It's usually much more convenient than hardcopy.

It's safe. I can't remember the last time I went through an agent. Pay be credit card (it's your proof)

It's definitely safe, and definitely the best way to go. I book online every time I fly. Go for it!
