Jesus is God, and there is plenty of Scripture that says this. Trinitarians believe that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God.

Let's look at what the Father says about the Son:

"But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a righteous scepter." (Hebrews 1:8)

Here are some other examples where Jesus applied the name of God (Cf. Exodus 3:14) to Himself: Matthew 14:27, Mark 6:50, Mark 13:6, Luke 21:8, John 4:26, John 6:20, John 8:24, 28, 58, and John 13:19. There are several others I have not listed. (Note, the I AM passages I referred to are from the Greek, as the English translations often mistranslate I AM for "It is I" or "I am He," to allow for readability.)

I am including a link for anyone who honestly wants to get their hands around the doctrine below. It has a diagram that vividly demonstrates the Triune God concept. (About halfway down the page.)

There are loads of references to Jesus being God's Son - especially read John, its covered with references.

God's Son doesn't mean he was created at his birth from Mary, as Mohammed thought, but pre-existed that. There a number of passages indicating that in Colossians, Ephesians, John and Hebrews.

References where the Son of God is called God directly are fewer but exist,
eg
* John 8:58 "Before Moses was, I am"
I am is the meaning of God's name 'Jehovah' - I am what I am. The crowd tried to stone him for that.

* John 10:11 - I am the good shepherd. This directly links to Psalm 23 where David calls God his shepherd.

* John 20:24-31Thomas says 'My Lord and my God to the resurrected Christ.

* Romans 9:5, mentions that the Christ is God

* 1 John 5:20

He said explicitly that he was far more than a mere prophet, when he asked who the disciples thought he was in Matthew 16:13-17.

The 'Messiah' was a figure in Jewish hopes, with prophecies about him in the old Testament, much more important than a prophet. Some of the prophecies have strong suggestions of his divinity, eg Isaiah 9:2-7

Reading the Bible is like reading a mystery novel. Have you ever taken a small portion out of it, and come to a conclusion about the whole book? We shouldn't do that with the Bible. either. Other prophets called Christ God. Isaiah, an undisputed prophet, (and where we got a portion of the Dead Sea scrolls) said this, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government will be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Notice the capitals. That's because they are all terms of great dignity and authority, not applicable to those who were prophets only. Isaiah was prophesying to Israel. They received a child, who was signified by a star, announced by angels, seen by wise men and proclaimed by Peter and Paul as the "Son of God", the word Son exclusively used for "exact image" of God. The term "I AM", in Hebrew history was a term only God had used for Himself when He spoke to Moses on the mountain. Jesus told the religious leaders of his day that "even before Abraham was, I AM", and they wanted to stone him. Why? Because he referred to himself in terms only used in reference to Jehovah, which was Israel's God. His resurrection only validates his claims.

He is the Only Begotten of the Father. He is the Messiah, the Savior of the world and Great Mediator... Of course He's a prophet also... but that doesn't mean He's just a prophet.

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.[b] 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."[c]

Jesus is not God. At John 10:36, he said: "I am God's Son," not God. Although he was a prophet, nowhere in the Bible did he actually say that.

He is not a god, like you said, he was just a man, a prophet. He and the father are one could mean that he and the father are clos.e
