its not for attention if you hide the cuts.!!!
i used to self harm due to something that happened when i was a child, i kept it secret for about 18years then i spoke to my key worker at the time & have never self harmed since.!!!
i couldnt speak to my parents, i would suggest you speak to someone you can trust & know it wont go any further.!!!
i hope you can stop harming yourself soon. Take Care.!!!!

Stress happens to everyone so it is not a mental problem per se.

The problem comes in when people have trouble coping with stress. Sometimes one's mental health is eroded either because of a biological issue or from environmental stress wearing us down.

I have not been a cutter so I don't know all that much about that, but I know that it does sound like you need some support and assistance because you are in pain if you feel the need to do that.

I would hope you could talk to a trusted adult or a friend or a teacher or a parent and tell them this. It won't be easy to tell them, but it is important to try.

That way, you can get perhaps counseling that will help you to work through the pain and why you feel this way and what can be done to help you feel better in the future.

I hope you can get help so you'll feel better.

I think it's a problem because you are harming yourself. It doesn't matter that you are taking care of the cuts, you are cutting yourself. Thats not a healthy way of dealing with your emotions. What will happen if you get really depressed one day and a little cut just isn't enough for you anymore? I would really encourage you to try talking to someone about your feelings and the reasons why you do it. Good luck to you!

If it was for attention, you would know. The people who cut for attention are usually trying to be emo or impress people or whatever. They're not usually stressed or depressed.

I don't think you have a "mental problem" as in a disease. You just have a few problems you need to sort out and you need to find a better way to cope with stress and feeling depressed.

Please, please try not to cut yourself. You'll end up with scars that you'll regret for the rest of your life. I know when you feel really bad you think scars don't matter but don't forget you'll always have a reminder of bad times. And you really don't want to have to wear long sleeves for the rest of your life or have to explain where you got all those scars.

Also, I think you should tell someone. If you feel comfortable talking to your parents, that's great, but most people find it hard. It might be easier to tell a friend you can really trust. The best thing you can do for yourself is to talk about it. Believe me, it really helps. I used to cut myself but after I told my friends I stopped really quickly. It helps to just get stuff off your shoulders.

If you want any more advice or you need someone to talk to, please feel free to email me!

Don't worry too much about school, focus on the things you do well in, or are interested in: your future may lie in other areas, like real estate, or photography, or landscaping. See http://www.ezy-build.com/~shaneris Pages 2. & 4. Stress: see http://www.nmha.org

Talk to your school Counselor or your parents. This is a mental problem and requires immediate attention. Its not something to be taken lightly.

Please get help and quickly. Your church pastor may also be able to help you. You have to try and talk out what is bothering you and not keep cutting.

It is an emotional or mental problem, not attention, and you needs to see a counselor or doctor. You may need depression medication or therapy.

maybe you should try talking to others. i have a friend who used to do the same thing and i got her to reading her bible or praying every time she thought about doing it and she has been free of it for almost 2 years now. it is a little bit of a mental thing and just a little for attention. just call one of your friends up everytime you think about. you can do it don't give up talk to someone. someone is there for you always.

this is a mental problem. i used to be a cutter and it is used as a form of release, a temporary moment of control. i used to say that cutting myself was my way of hurting myself on the outside to kill the pain on the inside. but please know that you are not crazy but you are saturated with life and need to talk to someone. in this world when everything flies at you so fast every day, everyone needs to release and vent to someone. please talk to someone. hope this helps.
