Next Wednesday is Teacher Appreciation Day at Daycare. I'm wondering what I can make to give them that they would like. I'd like to give them something that says I appreciate them, but I don't have alot of money to work with. Any ideas?

How about a small basket with some seed packets for their garden. Everyone loves spring and they could even us the growing process of the seeds as a lesson in class.

I was a teacher I loved to get things made by the child. It could also be a group project from the parents and child. A home made card always made me very happy. If you have the money, a gift card to a book store , tucked inside,would be nice. It can be as low as $5 because there are some very nice bookmarks at book stores.
Once I got a home made book mark that was really nice. I still use it and think about the child whenever I come across it.
I hoped this helped. It's not the cost, but the love that went into the gift that matters.

everyone has some great ideas here; I would also suggest baking something, maybe filling a small basket with muffins or cookies.
something a little different, Movie at Home night: a movie rental certificate, some packages of popcorn, and some boxes of candy? I've seen some cute plastic and ceramic popcorn containers (red & white ones that look like they're from the movie theatre) that you could put everything in. I found some at Big Lots, Family Dollar, etc.
I love the idea of a hand made card by your child, with a note of appreciation inside from you. Teachers aren't told nearly enough how much the parents appreciate what they do.

Daycare teachers are on their feet all day long! How about giving them a day of relaxation. Have parents to volunteer to watch the kids while you show the teachers just how much you appreciate them. Serve them breakfast and lunch, have someone come in to give massages, check around at the city colleges, students need hands on experience and work for tips. You could go to almost any store to pick up a small gift, a scented candle, for example. Daycare teachers don't just want to hear that they are appreciated, they want to see the appreciation.

Yes, I know about this, but my kids are older. BUT, our school declares a Teacher Appreciation Week, which is May 17th-21st. Our school has tons of parent volunteers, so they will make sure each and every teacher gets something. In addition, the room mothers will usually coordiante something for thier class' teacher. Don't feel bad; it's not too late. If it's a daycare place, just bring them a bunch of fresh muffins/bagels/pastries/donuts and juice one morning w/a simple "thanks for everything you do" card. They will be thrilled!

Gift cards are perfect, chocolate is wonderful, anything personnel is great. Never give "teacher" gifts. Also a nice handwritten letter or card that can allow you to tell them how much they mean to you and your child. And sometimes a letter can also go to the director telling them how great this teacher is. Letters like those go in our files and always look good for us. :)

Well, I work with preschool children and the thing I know that anything that helps me unwind would be greatly appreciated. A gift certificate to get my nails done, a certificate for starbucks or dunkin donuts (for coffee to help me be alert!) would be great. A batch of brownies that I didn't have to bake,(or anything similar) would be delicious. I'm sure that anything that you give them will be great just because it is nice to know that people appreciate what you do! Being a teacher is hardwork, being appreciated makes the bad days bearable,

You don't have to buy them a gift. Make some special muffins, or cookies....or get a box of chocolates. It still says you appreciate them, without them having to cart home 20 coffee mugs.

A thank you is always appreciated. Write it down in a card. You don't have to buy anything. If you feel you need to buy something, I would suggest books! I am always in need of more books. Or a gift certificate to the local teacher's supply store!

Write a letter to them or to the director detailing how they have taught your children. Be specific. Include, if you like, a thank you note your children have dictated or decorated.
