its one of my questions i have to answer for re the thing we found out was most of us it the class have been christened or baptismed but they are not practising christians and who do not worship god??

In Jesus' time, baptism was a way of making public one's commitment to a cause or person. It was, at times, quite a dangerous thing to do, because Jews and Romans could arrest Christians. Later on, the Roman Empire found that it could not get rid of Christianity, so it said, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." It had a religion called Christianity, but it was pretty well the opposite of true Christianity. Instead of having only believers baptised, they started to to baptise infants who had not had any choice in the matter, and declared them Christians whether they liked it or not. The habit caught on, and eventually everyone in Europe was baptised, except for Jews. Infant baptism is still practised, even today. People believe that it does some good in God's eyes.

When a baby gets baptized it isn't turning them into a Christian. It is just dedicating baby to Jesus care & extra blessings. Child will have a choice to accept Jesus in their heart when they reach the age of accountability. Some choose to rebel against Gods truth. Later, when the prodigal child returns to Christ, person should be water baptized again to show the world that Jesus washed his/her sins away & one is a new person, born of God/in Christ.
But some people get born of God in the process of being baptized because that is when they confess Jesus Christ their Lord & Savior & believe in their heart in His redeeming blood & resurrection. It is an act of faith, a moment of commitment. In the process of water baptism, one also believes in their heart by confessing with their mouth. Faith comes from hearing & hearing a word about Christ/God.

Because many people are under the false assumption that all you need to do in order to get into heaven is be baptised. Obviously, this is not true. You don't even have to be baptised to get to heaven, all you need is to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and try to uphold His holy practices.

Most people are christened (baptised) when they are too young to know what is happening. It is later in life that they reject christianity.

Well i always wondered this as i've had friends who have their kids christened and then never set foot in a church again n their lives.
One guy told me that they wanted a party and to show off their baby..which is wrong really...they coulda just had a naming ceremony instead.

Many people use the Bible as a checklist trying to get into heaven. Many of the Jews in Jesus' time did this and He talked alot about it. The checklist idea is similar to following God's Law. You can't keep God's Law and God knows that. That's why He gave us Himself as Jesus to die in our place for sin. All we have to do is accept Jesus IN OUR HEARTS and we are in. It's that simple.
