In Luke jesus tells us : "He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." (Luke 22:36)
While in Jesus's day they did not have guns. The obvious message is that Jesus is telling us we are supposed to arm ourselves.
Also In Luke Jesus says:
"But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." (Luke 19:27.
How are we to slay Jesus's enemies unless we carry firearms.

The truthful answer is simple. In the US at least, there are more Christians per capita in rural areas. Rural communities have firearms as part of there culture.
I am a gun owning Atheist. I don't know if having a Libertarian approach toward personal freedoms makes me "Pro-gun". I do believe adults should have the fewest laws limiting there actions as reasonable possible.

I do hate how so many issues have become Blue or Red. To many points are now argued using polarized dogma rather than reason.

I had a 7 year old cousin shot and killed by his older brother at home in an accident years ago.

Because they think it's their religious duty to be Republican since the GOP made its unholy alliance with the "Religious Right," and the GOP is also cozy with the NRA. That's also why we have all these "Christian" imbeciles walking around talking like oil industry lobbyists about global warming - another bought-and-sold opinion. They're mindless lemmings who will simply regurgitate whatever ditchwater their chosen "authorities" shove down their gullets, with utter disregard for actual facts. This process also produces many amusing contradictions - "Christians" are pro-gun, anti-gun-control, but also "pro-life" and anti-choice! But of course "Christians" are not known for their skill at discerning contradictions.

Preys Jesus, I'm pretty sure Jesus said to love your neighbor and that is one of the greatest commandments. Slaying the enemies of jesus means not allowing disbelief into your heart. Jesus was a pacifist.
