I understand that we are at war with a group of Muslims and I understand all of the paranoia about that. But don't lose sight of the fact that almost all religions have extremist actions in their history.

You are correct, Muslims can be very nice. My girlfriend and future Fiancée is a Muslim, and yes, I definitely think she's a great girl. You are also correct that there are far too many people who are willing to blame a demographic group for the extremist actions of some individuals who are part of that group. It's unfair, but it's not entirely irrational. I won't waste your time by quoting various versus of the Qur'an that, when taken at face value, promote violence; however, I will lay out a few corps facts for you.

The problem lies with Islam itself (the ideology), not with Muslims (the demographic group). In fact, Muslims are the primary victims of Islam. With few exceptions, Islamic countries are fascist, autocratic or theocratic, where women are subjugated and minorities persecuted. Islamic countries are rife with poverty and have been for centuries. Polls show that in many Islamic countries a majority of Muslims lionize the man responsible for the atrocities of September 11th and the terrorist gangs who routinely slaughter civilians in Israeli buses and restaurants…Almost everywhere that Islam borders other cultures, there is violence.

It is intellectually dishonest to deny that someone's beliefs have an impact on their actions. This is especially true for beliefs that have "eternal consequence." While Christianity too has some violent verses, the Qur'an is chalk full of them. In fact, the idea of "us" vs. "them" (believers vs. non-believers) is so essential to the text of the Qur'an that were no non-believers to exist, they would have to be invented to fulfill the text. Hence, Shi'ahs and Sunnis killing each other for centuries. Purely from an examination of Islam's core doctrines, one could rightly conclude that is the the most intolerant of all the word's religions. If you doubt me, try to preach Christianity, Hinduism, or Buddhism in the streets of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and much of Norther Africa.

Again, I don't think that all Muslims are bad. Like Christians, most Muslims don't actually read the Qur'an in its entirety. They probably have it read to them by their Imam (preacher) at the Mosque, and the versus they focus on are undoubtedly peaceful and benevolent. Have no doubt, the extremists are thoroughly familiar with EVERYTHING in the Qur'an. They take it literally and they apply it liberally.

In the West, we have a benign tolerance for all things religious. This stems not from our faith, but rather from our fear of offending anyone. Political correctness has become our defining virtue. It remains unacceptable to draw any conclusions implying that; to effectively ward off Jihadist aggression, we may need to also combat an ideology born of a religion. We can pretend all we want that we're not fighting a religious war, but our enemies most certainly are.

I leave you with this final thought from Voltaire: "Those that can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."

First of all, we're not at war with anyone. Congress has not declared war.

Second, our politicians have provoked a bunch of nasty people into attacking us. These people claim to be killing and bombing in the name of Islam, but their primary targets were Muslims.

The question is, why did our politicians get us involved in this situation? I am referring to events prior to 11 September. And even after the attack on the World Trade Center, what was the purpose of the attack on Iraq? What did it get us?

It got us the USA PATRIOT Act, and a lot of other laws that are undermining our Bill of Rights. Why do we need to fight terrorism? Why don't we just avoid it?

The majority of Muslims are nice people. It is the media that is creating all the hatred. They are just serving their masters, the politicians. Because of the action of the terrorists (that our own politicians provoked), we are supposed to hate Muslims.

What we need to do is to replace our politicians with people who will restore Constitutional government. Keep us out of foreign entanglements. No more undeclared wars. And get us out of the United Nations.

We need to restore American Independence.

I've not been blinded by any faith. So I don't have that particular paranoia.

I'm not atheist nor am I religious, and I don't really care if a god does exist or not. My thinking goes "I am a god unto myself. Therefore, I'll decide what is best for myself."

With that said, I was very happy when I heard that the people in Minn. voted in a black Muslim to Congress. We have Jews and Christians, about time we get more diverse religions in there.

People generally see what they want to see. To open ones eyes and view things from a different perspective tends to incite fear (in some form) and people are driven by two basic things in life (if you break something down to the smallest denominator) love and fear.

people fear people who are different. Fear ends up turning in to hate. Until somebody realizes that those extremists are only a small population of Muslims, well, they will continue to hate.

could desire to you please supply up calling us MOslEms? The be conscious is Muslim, and no, not the way Obama declares it. to respond to your question, the ppl you're speaking approximately, who manage you as a pagan and dont greet you, are extremists(not the blow-you-up-if-you-dont-say-Allah kind). those are the ppl who, such as you have suggested, look down on different Muslims in the event that they dare to be greater open-minded besides. i understand assorted ppl like those, they act like God basically belongs to them, they understand for particular that they'll heaven, and think of smiling is haram. Muslims are required to greet and be civil to each man or woman. i might propose you to forget approximately approximately such slender-minded ppl, and proceed greeting people who're super to you.

You are completely right. Unfortunately some people refuse to believe anything other than what they see on their television set.

Could it be, because the Muslims who were "nice" people in my neighborhood---the people who washed their cars, waved to neighbors and had kids on the soccer league---are also the Lackawanna Six that were arrested in connection with terrorist activity? could it be that they have a tenant to uphold that allows them to blend in with us (fake it) for the greater good of killing Christians? hmmmm .....let me think...yeah thats it.
