Why do most American cars suck?
American cars are just cheap rubbish. They use old technology especially in the suspension set-up. You have like 4 liter engines and you can only get like 250 bhp. Its pathetic really. The interiors are just plastic and tacky and the mpg is crap
European and Asian cars are so much better. Cutting edge technology, high mpg, well made with nice interiors, and have STYLE. something American cars do not have
Just look how far this American car has come from 1998 to 2008

Looks quite the same.
There is one car i do like from America. The ford mustang looks good but maybe a little tacky on the inside.
Why cant Americans make a car that can go round a corner?? Everyone else can. Whats the problem? Do you have no corners in America? It must be well boring to drive over there.
Another problem you Americans have with cars culture is NASCAR the most boring racing of all

Formula 1 or Rally car racing is where its at. Not going round and round in a circle all day long.
By the way I'm English and my favorite car is the Lotus Exige S. None of you have heard of this probably so you might want to look it up.
I also like my Aston Martins, Audis, BMW, Jaguar, Porsche, Ferrari, Lambos, Range rovers etc. (The good car makes of the world)

Do you know that the people responsible for the engineering of the Saleen's S7 were BRITISH??
Why is this?? Maybe because in America a country of 300 million people they couldnt find any to engineer it.
There are only 2 great engineering country's in the world. Thats Britain and Germany FACT
Most F1 cars are designed and build in Britain. Why is this you ask? Well its because we know what we are doing.
My teeth are perfectly straight and white. No cavity's or fillings. Bet you are isn't perfectly fine though is it. Not enough power, bad MPG, and feels like your sitting on a marshmallow. That why it makes Americans so hungry?

Formula 1 racing is not all that great. The max number of passing in the whole race is around three times. In NASCAR a guy can go from 34 to first with a car that goes as fast as all the other cars. That will never happen in Formula 1. A driver in formula 1 that takes the lead will probably hold that lead throughout the race.
As far as quality goes, it really depends on the customer and the car. After all, Toyota assembles cars in the Unites States and they are listed as number one quality. The new Ford Mustang was designed by Thai-Tang from Vietnam.
In Australia, 98% of the taxis are from Ford. most fleet vehicles in the U.S. are from traditionally American manufacturers. Putting 300,000 to one million miles on an American car is common so it's not like American cars are poor quality. As foriegn companies start selling more calls, they are getting more complaints and recalls. Ford makes 12 times more vehicals than Honda , but Ford has less that 12 times the problems that Honda has.
U.S. vehicals have speed limters on them. Without a speed limter, a Ford Focus will go 140 mph. With the limiter, the vehicals can go up to 108 mph. The speed limit in the U.S. is 70 mph or less depending on the area. The speeding tickets is how many cities get their money so the police are usually out in force collecting tickets. The U.S. also tries to lay out their streets in a grid system so there isn't that many turns.

Hey you Brit piece of trash. Why do the English all have bad teeth? I'm not bashing British people just their mouths. And why would you assume that no Americans are familiar with lotus? I actually own an Elise. Also 250 hp from a 4 banger is pretty good across the board. Most rice rockets don't get that unless you buy a high end model. You can't compare a type R, STI, or whatever to a bottom of the barrel Ford Taurus. Ford's Shelby Mustang, Saleen's S7, or Calloway's Corvette would drive circles around most of your fancy Brit cars. Then there is racing. When was the last time a Brit car won Le Mans? Been a while huh? Get off your high horse. Then you attempt to make claims about NASCAR. Clearly you are an ignorant wanna be car fan boy. Grow up a little, buy one of your super Brit cars, learn how to drive it, learn how to really drive it, then you can post your opinions.

Hmm funny that you mention Jaguar and Land Rover since their parent company is none other than good old Ford Motor Company and from what I've read the quality has taken a really big hit since FoMoCo's taken over. And in fact I think it was some car mag that said the XK looked basically like an upscale Ford Taurus. As for BMW's a good number of them (Z4's, M3's, X3, and X5) are built in the heart of NASCAR country at a plant in South Carolina, probably by a number of NASCAR fans. speaking of NASCAR yes for the most part it is driving around in circles for 400-500 miles but no two tracks really can be driven the same way. F1's really just a bunch of high-powered go-carts that sound like a vacuum cleaner on steroids. I'll give it to you on rally racing, from what I've seen of it, it looks pretty wild. And yes there are corners around here, and my Ford Taurus handled them pretty well thank you.

have you ever heard of the expression "comparing apples with oranges"? How much does a porche or a jaguar cost? How much does a ford mustang cost? I heard people will only own ONE jaguar in their life because it is not that great. As far as Jap cars didn't the usa set up their manufacturing after WW2? Yes Euro cars are usually much better but dollar for dollar.... I don't think so. After owning any car for ten years it still gets old and fades away no matter what car you got.
Hey bone-head! you said you are not trying to bash the USA people so now what are you... a liar? Also, do the rest of the people where you came from know how to post a url link? Check the two you posted... a moron could have gotten one right but you got both wrong so did you engineer that also?

Um, I think you may be posting in the wrong group?
I'm very happy with my Oldsmobile Alero. I was also very happy with my BMW when I had it. I'm very pleased with my wife's Toyota. My kids are still using my ancient Buick Century, and our refurbished Dodge Caravan.
Maybe one of the reasons our autos don't "advance" very much is the incredible over-regulation of the American Auto industry?
Now, I have to agree with you on NASCAR or the Indy 500 -- I don't see nearly as much skill in racing around an oval all day long as a road course where drivers have to turn in both directions. And we have a few of those races here in the U.S., too -- think the 24 hour race at Sebring, or the courses at Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, or Lime Rock. I think the attraction of ovals is that you can see the action on the entire course, whereas on a typical roadcourse you can only see a small fraction of the race.
So please, go take your anti-American rant somewhere where people care . . .

So how many passes for the lead take place in the normal Formula 1 race? 0-1, yippee. Now that's competitiion.
I realy don't like the looks of most foreign cars. They are too small and underpowered. They all look the same. It all depends on one's own likes and dislikes. America has a lot of options to choose from and they choose based on their individual tastes.

Well, it starts with socialized education. Our kids graduate without knowing how to multiply single digit numbers together without a calculator....consequently, American born engineers are a rare commodity.
Add to that fact most American automobile factories are located in "union country". Unions reward lazy employees while using political connections to force superior products out of a competitive market. Without stiff competition and an efficient workforce, American products will always be subpar.....but they're cheap....
As for NASCAR: It's a Southern thing. Being a good ol' Southern boy, I can tell you the fun WAS in the thumpin' and bumpin'. Ever since NASCAR went national, it's taken measures to make itself a non-contact sport....BORING!!

It's one of the reasons why Toyota is the most-sold car brand in the United States. They are fully equipped while most of the U.S. cars are not.
