Anyone, no matter what their MOS is, can go to war. You have to realize that our servicemen and women join the military knowing they can be called to war at anytime. If you are unable to handle the fact that your husband could go to war if he joins, then you are not ready to become a military wife and he is not ready to become a soldier. My husband served 20 years in the Marines and was in Beirut during the embassy bombing and I couldn't be more proud of him serving. I've always been supportive of his decisions in staying in for so long and knew what I was getting into when I married him. You have a lot of thinking to do with your husband.

Air Force is good if he can be a pilot or fix jets. Navy is good.
I have read the list of over 3500 war dead in Iraq. Made up of Army and Marines. Most are under 30 and only a few are officers. They gave all. Those that serve in any way have my admiration and my full support in there duty.

Military job titles are often misleading and meant to be that way.

It's the military. You are trained to fight and will when called upon. You can roll the dice and hope to find a "safe" job, but the bottom line is stay out of the military if you are worried about fighting in battle.

i don't know how the military works, but i would think they need their finance people in the DC area, in Arlington around the Pentagon. the soldiers on the front line tend to be young and not specialized in something like finance, unless they are a commander or something.

EVERYBODY has the potential to deploy. and it isn't just Iraq. we also have troops in Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa as well.

BTW, statistacally he stands a better chance of dying in a car accident here than he does being deployed. last lear 35 THOUSAND people were killed in car accidents across the country. In five years of occupation, less than 35 HUNDRED have been killed in Iraq

If he's in the Air Force and working in finance he has less chance of being shot at than almost anyone in the service.

your husband shouldn't join the military if he's not ready to fight for his country, my husband is a avionics technician, he basically fixes the C-17 cargo planes and he's in Iraq right now, but doesn't leave base, which isn't bad, maybe your husband should just get a cozy civilian cubicle job,
