The education rates for the states contained within the Bible Belt are all near the bottom of the list.
Coincidence? I think not.

I was born and raised Catholic, in the South (North Carolina) and am now Atheist. I do love the South but it is very hard living in a place where people view you as an immoral heretic or emobiment of the Anti-Christ when they find out you do not believe the same as they do. I have been ridiculed and called names and even some of the more self-righteous Bible thumpers have the nerve to act like they feel sorry for me that I am not a Christian. But I am very happy with my beliefs and much happier being Atheist than I ever was being raised a Christian because I am being true to what I believe.
Although I am Atheist I am also against execution. Isn't it funny that the majority of those who support the death penalty tend to be Christians?

gosh. you lot have been watching too many documentaries!!!
why do you lot have such a fascination with the bible belt in redneck territory? If you don't live there, why do you care?
I think you will find most Christians and the average human is against execution. Have you actually experienced this 'deep suspicion' or have you heard about it from a film?

To put a positive spin on this, at least there is improvement.
Compare southerners now to southerners 50 years ago, or 100 years ago.
At least now, lynchings are almost unheard of, when they used to be commonplace.
As time goes on, people learn and grow. Each generation is more informed and objective then the generation before.

Oh yeah? Well try living in that culture your entire life while holding viewpoints contrary to the herd's. Why do a lot of Southerners think this way? It is too complicated to go into on a forum like this. Don't worry about it.

formal religon has little to do with spirituality. Christ himself warned us time and again about giving our selves to religon. So many churches live in constant willful disobedience to Jesus. i.e, call not man on earth Father (rabbi), for you have only one father in heaven.
You are only listening to the perverted bible beaters, don't assume all religons are like that as the more progressive and spiritual ones tend to be quieter. Lots of religons do not believe in the death penalty. Southers tend to be uneducated in this regard. Ignore them.

Don't try to understand Southern culture or you'll suffer an aneurysm.
Just buy some pink flamingos for the lawn, a velvet Elvis/Jesus (they are interchangeable since Elvis is a Saint) for over the sofa and sit back and watch NASCAR.

If we gassed everyone that is in prison today,, we could use the money being spent on their upkeep to pay for every kid in the country's education.
Why, as a so called advanced society, do we continue to put up with the ones that want to drag us down?
No hate here, I would just like to see the world advance instead of being mired down in the same old crap.
Solve the problem, get rid of all of them.

Being "religious" does exist. Religions is the position they word the religious section to a God, image, and faith frequently. So do no longer be offended in the adventure that they do no longer accept as true with you. enable them trust what they favor. back I convey regret you're surrounded via "idiots" yet formerly calling them idiots, make positive you're not any more one too. Your reasoning on your section is extremely obscure.

I'm glad I live in the north. Considering I hold viewpoints contrary to what most of the south believes....generally speaking.
But this is a prime example of christian hypocrisy.
