And do you wonder how anyone can possibly think it's worthwhile or quality programming? There is nothing meaningful to be had here-it's all shallow, cheesy and incredibly bad tast. Chintzy looking gold chairs-men still wearing '70s-style leisure suits, and women with strangely colored hair so big it needs to have it's own zip code? It's like Jim and Tammy Faye-only twice as bad. I would think it would turn people away from Christianity altogether-it's quite obvious these people just want your cash.

Chdoctor-I'm sorry, but there's nothing genuine or sincere about that station or those shows. It's all phony, superficial, and above all, incredibly bad.

I've never understood the clownish, circus atmosphere of televangelism. It's borderline parody, but somehow it attracts plenty of ka-ching from its viewership.

I know what you're talking about. I stumbled on TBN several years ago. I was shocked, at first I thought it was a silly skit, so I kept watching it. Then, I realized, oh my gosh, this is real. These are real religious people being serious!!! I couldn't believe it. I would check out TBN alot, I was transfixed. My family would get a little upset with me, but I was like, No, look at these people, the chairs, the surroundings, it's too bizarre. I find it completely fascinating. Like you say, cheesy, chintzy, shallow, so in-your-face fake. I don't get that channel anymore. I miss it.

At times wonder if this some show on Comedy Central with there cast of characters and all doing is asking for you sign over your life and money. Best one is lady with pink hair she does more crying then Tammie Faye. Does ever change her outfit?

Yes. It really amazes me that people still fall for that crap. The whole phenomenon of superstitious belief is fascinating. We seem to be predisposed to certain types of emotional programming.

When you're caught up in it, you just don't see the chintz for what it is. From the outside, it is blatantly superficial.

And it isn't just the outdated props that are superficial. I've talked to many Christians and people of other religions. Their whole worldview is quite shallow. The scenery just reflects that.

Fortunately TBN has a tremendous global reach. Fortunately they do sell some air time to good ministries-like Coral Ridge.
Unfortunately TBN is a Charismatic hoax. Most everyone involved is in it for the money.

Think of the shows on the TBN as a genuine slice of genuine Christianity. I don't doubt their sincerity, but I don't present myself that way visually. They're just a small segment of the genuine Christian population.

You would think so, but to people unable to think for themselves these people are sent by God to guide them and protect them from the evil ABC, NBC and CBS.

On the other hand, I LOVE Jack van Impe's show. That crazy little guy just cracks me up!

And for some strange, kinky reason I want to bend Rexella over and ride her all the way to town.

I'm sick bastard!

Oh I absolutely agree. I never watch TBN and I am particularly wary of any preacher who is on TV.

It's amazing how some people fall for the big act, especially when the acting is so lousy.

It shows the obvious under educated mess that is much of the christian community. No educated person watches that crap. I know many religous people who all sit and laugh at the people on those shows because they know how dumb it is and how stupid it is.
